    The Facial Feminization Surgery Process

    Consult

    At The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe in treating our patients like family. During your consultation, you’ll meet with your surgeon one-on-one to help them better understand your concerns and desires. After answering your questions, we will address cost, safety, and every other aspect of your plastic surgery experience to ensure you’re comfortable. You’ll also undergo an extensive physical exam and blood tests before your surgeon takes photographs to aid in planning and performing your procedures.

    Procedure

    Facial Feminization surgery is performed under general anesthesia and customized for each patient. Your personal treatment plan will include a combination of the following surgeries:

    Recovery

    After surgery, you will experience some discomfort once your anesthesia wears off. Our goal is to keep you as comfortable as possible. So, your surgeon will provide you with medication to mitigate pain and soreness. Your surgeon will also fit you with a unique garment to aid the healing process and reduce swelling.

    Post Surgery

    Your post-surgical recovery will take place in our luxurious facility. Once you return home, we are available around the clock to answer any questions you may have. After a few weeks, your pain and swelling should be less noticeable. Your doctor will also follow your progress closely and advise you as to which activities are safe during your healing process.

    Your Facial Feminization surgery will be customized to provide the best results. So, no two patients have the same experience. Instead, your surgeon will recommend a combination of complementary procedures to create a more feminine appearance. They will also thoroughly explain each treatment before your surgery and give you important instructions for a safe recovery.

    During your consultation, your surgeon will give you specific directions to help you prepare for your procedure. Instructions generally include cautions about taking certain medication and drinking alcohol.     Your surgery time will vary, depending on the combination of procedures your surgeon has to perform. However, you can expect to be at our center for about 4-5 hours.

    Generally, you can expect to avoid strenuous activities for about four weeks. However, most patients can resume normal activities within a few days after their surgery. Everyone heals differently, and it could take several weeks to see your true results.

    It is not always necessary for brows to be lifted to achieve a more feminine appearance. In some cases, brow shaping is the only procedure needed to achieve a feminine appearance. The decision is heavily dependent upon each client's natural features.

    The Adam’s apple is one of the most obvious differences between a male and female. Tracheal Shave is an essential part of Facial Feminization surgery and can reduce the appearance of an Adam’s apple.
