Facelift procedures require significant surgery and considerable downtime. We offer a non-surgical alternative that can dramatically reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin. PDO threads are synthetic absorbable surgical sutures used to induce collagen production and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Absorbable Thread Lift or “Non-Surgical Facelift” uses these threads to stimulate collagen production and improve skin laxity.

A Thread Lift procedure is an alternative to surgery used to correct loose, sagging skin by lifting tissue and inducing collagen production. It requires minimal downtime and is safe, minimally invasive and FDA-approved. At The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we’ve seen thousands of patients who desired a fresher, more youthful appearance but didn’t want to undergo extensive surgery. The Absorbable Thread Lift provides instant results and requires minimal downtime, so you can resume normal activities within 24 hours.

First, your Physician Assistant will take your complete medical history to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment. Then, they’ll perform a comprehensive examination to determine which areas may benefit from an absorbable thread lift. Your Physician Assistant will work with you to address your concerns and create the best treatment plan for you. They will also explain the procedure in detail and give you an idea of the results you can expect.
First, your Physician Assistant will inject the desired treatment area(s) with a local anesthetic to mitigate pain. PDO threads are then introduced under the skin using a delicate needle or fine microcannula. Once in place, the needle is removed and the PDO threads are left to stimulate collagen production.
Minimal downtime is associated with an absorbable thread lift. Most patients can resume normal daily activities within 3 days but, should refrain from physical activity for 1-2 weeks. You should gently wash the treated areas on the same day but do not rub or massage the areas for 2 weeks. It is normal to experience a stinging pain or discomfort after treatment. Your Physician Assistant will give you a detailed list of post-treatment guidelines before you leave the center.
PDO threads, which stands for polydioxanone, are synthetic absorbable surgical sutures. PDO threads are used to temporarily enhance the appearance of the area being treated and have been proven to be one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.
PDO threads help redefine facial contours, lift skin and tissue and induce collagen production. Full results are reached approximately 3 months after treatment, once collagen has naturally formed around the thread. The thread is safely absorbed, and collagen in the treated area increases by 100%. Results typically last between 8-14 months.
Noticeable improvements can be seen immediately and continue to improve over 3 months as new collagen forms around and between threads.
Both treatments are intended to improve the skin’s firmness and texture. An absorbable thread lift uses the insertion of threads to lift and tighten the underlying muscles whereas, facelift surgery removes excess skin to create a smoother appearance. Since no incision is required, the absorbable thread lift doesn’t require general anesthesia, and it causes little to no scarring.
