Breast Reduction

While many women have the desire to increase the size of their breasts, others prefer the opposite. For some women, extraordinarily large breasts are a source of physical and psychological discomfort. Many experience frequent neck, back and shoulder pain, have difficulty finding clothing that fits, refrain from vigorous physical activities, and are self-conscious due to the unwanted attention associated with having a larger bust.

At The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we are sympathetic to the undesirable realities faced by women with large, heavy breasts. If you are experiencing a lesser quality of life due to the size and weight of your breasts, we encourage you to consider breast reduction surgery. Many women experience significant improvement in their physical comfort and self-confidence after having breast reduction surgery.

Our team at The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery has performed over a thousand breast reduction surgeries over the last 15 years. The Breast Reduction Process

    Consult

During your initial visit, expect to provide your complete medical history, including all your medications, allergies, and previous surgeries. You’ll also undergo an extensive physical exam and blood tests before your surgeon takes photographs to aid in planning and performing your Breast Reduction surgery. Finally, you’ll receive important instructions to prepare for treatment, as well as a realistic explanation of the results you can expect to achieve.

    Procedure

During your Breast Reduction surgery, your surgeon will remove excess glandular tissue, fat and skin to reduce the size of the breasts. Enlarged areolas can also be reduced and relocated to a higher position on the breast.

    Recovery

After surgery, you will experience some discomfort once your anesthesia wears off. Our goal is to keep you as comfortable as possible. So, your surgeon will provide you with medication to mitigate any pain and soreness. Your bandages will be removed approximately five days after surgery.

    Post Surgery

Your doctor will give you a surgical bra to wear for seven to ten days after your procedure. Most women return to their usual activities in one week. However, you should avoid lifting for one week and heavy lifting for four weeks. You can typically expect your breasts to obtain their final shape six to eight weeks after your procedure.
