Before & After Breast Augmentation Surgery
Actual Patients Shown Before And After Surgery. Your Results May Vary.
The Breast Augmentation Surgery Process
Patient education is key any time you are considering a medical procedure like breast augmentation. Our Fort Lauderdale plastic surgeons are available to explain the various aspects of the procedures we specialize in, the individual results you should expect and to answer any questions you may have. During your initial consultation, you’ll work with your surgeon to address your concerns and desired results of your breast augmentation. We’ll show you sample implants in various sizes and recommend the appropriate size for your needs.
The breast augmentation procedure typically takes 1-2 hours. During the procedure, your surgeon will make an incision and place the implant under your pectoral muscle. Once the implants are properly placed, the incision will be closed using stitches beneath the skin. Your breast augmentation surgeon may also apply tape to the incision for additional support before applying gauze and a surgical bra.
Your breasts will appear firmer and fuller immediately following your surgery, and you may feel slightly uncomfortable. You may also notice some swelling and bruising, which is common with most surgeries. Allow 3-4 months to see the full results of your breast augmentation.
Patients are required to return to the center three days after their breast augmentation surgery to allow the surgeon to remove bandages and check the incision area. Your surgeon will also examine your breasts at regular intervals during the first 90 days post-surgery.
Breast Augmentation Surgery Testimonials
Silicone implants are pre-filled with a thick, flexible silicone and saline implants are placed empty then filled with sterile salt water until the desired size is reached. Silicone implants tend to feel more natural and mimic the density and feel of a real breast. Saline implants feelmore like a water balloon and tend to look rounder on the chest. Both have been deemed safe by the FDA and offer great results.
The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery employs two different breast augmentation incision techniques–periareolar and inframammary. For the Periareolar technique, your surgeon will make an incision around the areola. For the inframammary technique, an incision is made under the breast.
The FDA has determined that both silicone and saline breast implants are safe. Even in the unlikely event of an implant sustaining damage, no harmful fluids or substances will be leached.
Patients who are in overall good health, whose breasts have fully developed and are at least 18 years old *saline implants or 22 years old *silicone implants are good candidates for breast augmentation surgery.
