Voluma XC in Ft. Lauderdale
South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery
Voluma XC is the first dermal filler to earn the FDA’s approval to treat age-related loss of volume in the cheek area. As part of the JUVÉDERM® family of dermal fillers, Voluma XC restores a more youthful-looking contour to the cheeks. Our team at the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery believes in offering a range of injectable filler treatments, and we are pleased to offer patients in Ft. Lauderdale Voluma XC.
What Voluma XC Corrects
One of the normal side effects of aging is the depletion of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that helps the skin maintain structure and volume. As the body’s supply of hyaluronic acid diminishes, the skin starts to lose its youthful and supple quality. The cheekbones and chin can slowly look less-defined, and the cheeks may take on a hollow quality.
Voluma XC is a great source of hyaluronic acid. Once injected, it replenishes skin volume and hydrates the tissues in the treated area. Because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance, the risk of adverse reaction is very low.
What Happens During Treatment with Voluma XC?
A treatment session with Voluma XC is similar to a treatment session with other filler products such as Restylane, Radiesse or Artefill. We administer Voluma injections in our office, and treatment takes an hour or less.
Voluma XC contains a small amount of lidocaine, which numbs the treatment area. If you need additional anesthetic, a topical product can be applied first.
Voluma XC will be injected with a very fine needle into strategic points on the apex, “apples” or hollows of your cheeks. The number of injections you need will depends on several factors, including the degree of correction and the size of the treated area.
Recovering from Voluma XC Treatment
After treatment, you may be asked to apply an ice pack to the area to reduce any discomfort. Injections of Voluma XC do not involve extensive downtime, and you can return to your normal activities almost immediately.
Please note: You should avoid putting any pressure on the treatment area, as this could cause the product to migrate.
Temporary side effects of Voluma XC injections include swelling, tenderness, firmness, bruising, redness and discoloration.
Voluma XC Results
Results of Voluma XC can last up to two years. Over time, your body will absorb the hyaluronic acid, so if you’d like to maintain your results, we recommend you schedule repeat treatments.
