How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

How Much Does a Mommy Makeover Cost?

Having a baby can be one of the most rewarding experiences in a woman’s life. However, it is common for women to see drastic changes in their appearance after pregnancy and childbirth. Drooping breasts, excess fat, and loose or saggy skin are all normal after giving birth, but they can also take a significant toll on a woman’s self-esteem.

Some issues can’t be fixed with diet and exercise alone. For example, you may have no problem getting back to your pre-pregnancy weight but find that you now have a brand new “muffin top” or set of “love handles.” Pregnancy hormones are also known to cause the body to develop new areas of stubborn fat, which don’t respond well to traditional weight loss methods. In these cases, we recommend a Mommy Makeover.

The goal of a Mommy Makeover is to restore the shape and appearance of a woman’s body after childbirth. To achieve this, your surgeon combines two or more procedures to create a custom treatment plan perfect for your body. Results of the treatment are often dramatic, making it a popular choice for moms who want a full-figure transformation. Because it’s highly customizable, various factors contribute to the total cost of a Mommy Makeover. Still, we can give you a rough estimate and help you know what to look for when evaluating the cost of your treatment.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A Mommy Makeover is simply a collective term for a uniquely tailored combination of procedures used to restore a woman’s body after pregnancy. One of the most significant advantages of this treatment is that your surgeon can enhance multiple areas of your body during a single operation; that means only one round of anesthesia and only one recovery period. Bundling procedures also helps you save on the overall cost to achieve better results for less money.

Many different procedures may be included in a Mommy Makeover. During your initial consultation, your surgeon will recommend the best treatment plan to suit your needs. Some women may need only two procedures, while others will see the best results with three or four. The only way to determine exactly which treatments you need is by scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. With that in mind, here is a list of the most popular procedures to choose from:

  • Breast Augmentation
  • Breast Reduction
  • Breast Lift
  • Buttock Augmentation
  • Liposuction
  • Tummy Tuck
  • Vaginal Rejuvenation
  • Post-Bariatric Surgery

Who is a Good Mommy Makeover Candidate?

Although Mommy Makeover surgery is highly individualized, there are some basic requirements to be considered a good candidate. Patients should be at a healthy weight and already leading a healthy lifestyle before seeking plastic surgery. We suggest that you be within 10-15 pounds of your goal weight and exercise regularly before treatment. Ideal candidates have already lost their pregnancy weight and schedule treatment to make changes that can’t be achieved with diet and exercise, such as stubborn fat and loose, stretched skin.

Additionally, although we’re not expecting you to predict the future, it is best to be done having children before scheduling a Mommy Makeover. While it isn’t the end of the world if you have another baby, an additional pregnancy will only further change your body and may reverse the results of your surgery.

Mommy Makeover Price Range

The average cost of a Mommy Makeover in the U.S. is anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000. However, keep in mind that this cost does not include anesthesia, operating room facilities, or surgeon’s fees. The total price varies significantly, depending on the surgeon, location, and combination of procedures. Our team will present you with a custom treatment plan detailing how much each procedure costs and exactly which fees you can expect to pay during your initial consultation.

Mommy Makeover Considerations

If you’re interested in having a Mommy Makeover, the provider you choose will have the biggest impact on the outcome of your treatment. Your surgeon should be board-certified and, preferably, specialize in or perform Mommy Makeovers regularly. Your doctor’s reputation and the safety record of their facility are also crucial factors to consider.

In general, more experienced and esteemed surgeons who specialize in Mommy Makeovers receive the highest demand from patients and will charge a higher fee. That said, it’s recommended that you choose the best surgeon for your desired procedure rather than making a decision based solely on cost. Working with more qualified surgeons may cost more upfront, but they will also provide the most exceptional outcomes and a much lower risk of complications.

Post-Op Care

Post-op care is one of the costs associated with plastic surgery that is often overlooked. After a Mommy Makeover, you’ll receive pain medication and compression garments to help keep you comfortable and speed up the recovery process. Your post-op care may also include professional home care or recovery facilities.

We recommend that all patients have a friend or family member keep an eye on them for at least 24 hours after surgery. However, if you’d prefer to hire a professional caregiver, budgeting for the additional cost in advance will help you breathe easier on surgery day. These expenses may or may not be covered in your total cost of treatment. Preparing for them in advance will help ensure your recovery goes as smoothly as possible.

Why Does Your Mommy Makeover Cost What It Does?

Several factors will ultimately determine how much your Mommy Makeover costs. Your surgeon’s experience, location, the combination of procedures, and the quality of your provider’s facilities will all affect your total cost of surgery. Use the following list as a guide to find the most affordable options for you.

Combination of Procedures

Most Mommy Makeover patients combine an upper body procedure, like breast augmentation, with a lower body procedure, like a tummy tuck, to completely transform the physique. However, the specific combination of procedures you need to achieve your goals will be completely unique. In general, having more procedures will mean higher costs. Some may also be pricier than others due to the skill and technique required.

Anesthesia Options

The cheapest option for anesthesia is a local anesthetic. A general surgeon can administer local anesthesia. However, it is usually only suitable for patients who aren’t comfortable going to sleep for surgery. Local anesthesia isn’t a great choice for keeping patients comfortable and relaxed, as the patient stays awake for the entire procedure.

Most often, Mommy Makeovers are performed under general anesthesia and administered by an M.D. Anesthesiologist. General anesthesia allows you not to feel any pain nor remember any details of the surgery. Although this is the more expensive type of anesthesia, it is also the safest option. Our doctors perform all surgical procedures at The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery alongside our in-house, professional M.D. Anesthesiologist.

Geography

Most highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeons are located in large cities and on the coasts, where demand is high. Some of these high-traffic areas (think Beverly Hills) have much higher procedure costs for Mommy Makeovers, while other regions can offer affordable surgery without compromising quality. South Florida is a particularly popular area for cosmetic surgery because of the reasonable prices and high concentration of reputable doctors. Our center employs many doctors who share overhead costs to pass those savings onto our patients. In contrast, single doctors with their own practices have many expenses that they are responsible for alone and often charge patients more to keep their businesses going.

Reputation of the Surgeon

Your surgeon’s reputation is one of the most valuable characteristics to look for when choosing a provider. Search for surgeons with the highest reviews and a long history of high patient satisfaction. Our board-certified plastic surgeons have decades of combined experience and have performed hundreds of Mommy Makeover procedures in South Florida.

Paying for Your Mommy Makeover

For most people, cosmetic surgery is a significant financial commitment. It’s important to plan for surgery expenses in advance and make sure that you’re prepared to pay for treatment. Fortunately, there are several options available to help make your Mommy Makeover more affordable. Your surgeon will explain these options in detail and help you find a plan that best suits your budget.

Payment Plans

Payment plans are one of the most flexible payment options. They don’t typically require a credit check and allow you to pay for the cost of treatment gradually over time. You can reserve your surgery date for the duration of your payment plan as long as the account is paid in full at least two weeks before treatment.

Financing

Financing is similar to a payment plan and allows you to pay for the cost of treatment over time. However, unlike a payment plan, financing typically requires a credit check and is subject to credit approval. Once you’re approved, you can pay for treatment in increments over a specified period of time. We offer three financing options to accommodate almost any budget: Advance Care Card, Alpheon Credit Card, and United Medical Credit.

Credit Cards

Many patients choose to pay for their Mommy Makeover with a personal credit card. We accept most major credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover Card.

What Can You Expect to Spend on Post-Op Care?

After a Mommy Makeover, you’ll need to avoid strenuous physical activity for at least a few weeks. Costs associated with your recovery process may include medication, compression garments, follow-up appointments, and any downtime from work. Account for these post-op expenses before your surgery to enjoy a stress-free recovery.

Medications

After treatment, you’ll be given a prescription for pain medication and possibly other medicines. It is your responsibility to fill and pay for any medication your doctor prescribes. These medications aren’t typically included in the cost of treatment. However, you can call your insurance company to find out whether you’re covered for prescriptions or get an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs.

Garments

We recommend that all Mommy Makeover patients wear a compression garment for several weeks following surgery. Custom compression garments, called “fajas,” can cost between $100-$150. However, generic options may be slightly cheaper. Many women also find that a donut or inflatable pillow is necessary, especially if they had a buttock augmentation as part of their treatment. These pillows range from $20 for cheaper options up to $80, depending on the quality.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Our lymphatic system rids our bodies of toxins, waste, and unwanted materials. It also transports lymph‚ a fluid containing white blood cells, throughout our bodies. After cosmetic surgery, these lymphatic channels are disrupted and may take a few months to make new connections. Adding lymphatic massages to your post-care treatment plan can reduce swelling, improve aesthetic results, and benefit recovery tremendously. Lymphatic massages cost $100 per session on average.

Post-Operative Care (Optional)

Most Mommy Makeover patients arrange for a friend or family member to stay with them the first night after surgery. However, there are other options if you’d prefer professional care. Some patients choose to stay in a recovery center for their post-surgical care or hire a professional caregiver to help them out around the house for the first few weeks after treatment. Whichever option you choose, aim to make a decision well before your surgery date to make sure you’re prepared for any unexpected expenses.
