Our expert Plastic Surgeons in Fort Lauderdale, FL are here to help.

To make your transformation more accessible, we offer flexible financing through trusted third-party providers with easy application and approval processes. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Breast reduction surgery involves both the removal of excess breast tissue and the reshaping and lifting of the breasts—making incision placement a key part of your customized surgical plan. Our surgeons will select the approach that provides the most precise reshaping while prioritizing discreet, well-concealed scars.
Each incision option is chosen based on your anatomy, breast size, skin elasticity, and reduction goals. During your consultation, your surgeon will walk you through the best technique to achieve your desired outcome—always with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, and scar minimization.
Made around the areola and vertically down to the breast fold. This is one of the most commonly used techniques, offering effective reshaping for moderate reductions with minimal scarring.
Made around the areola, vertically down to the breast fold, and horizontally along the crease. This option allows for the most comprehensive tissue removal and reshaping, typically used in more significant reductions.
A circular incision around the areola only. This approach is generally used for minor reductions and lifts, where minimal tissue needs to be removed.
Excess breast weight can place significant strain on your spine and shoulders. Breast reduction surgery removes this extra weight, easing tension and helping many patients finally find relief from daily discomfort.
Large, heavy breasts can limit movement and encourage poor posture over time. By lightening the chest, breast reduction makes it easier to stand taller, move more freely, and engage in physical activities with greater comfort and confidence.
Skin-on-skin friction beneath the breast fold can trap sweat and lead to persistent irritation, chafing, or infections. Breast reduction eliminates this excess skin, helping to improve hygiene and reduce the risk of skin issues.
From running to yoga to everyday errands, smaller, more proportionate breasts make it easier to move your body without discomfort or the need for restrictive bras and support gear.
Patients often express how much more freedom they feel in their clothing choices after surgery. Tops fit better, bras are more comfortable, and your wardrobe starts to feel more like you.
For many women, breast reduction isn’t just about physical relief—it’s about finally feeling at home in their bodies. Reducing breast size can ease unwanted attention, restore body confidence, and provide a fresh sense of comfort in your skin.

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
You’ll complete your consultation, take pre-operative photos, and undergo required testing like bloodwork and medical clearance. Your care team will walk you through everything you need to feel fully prepared.
Surgery Day
Breast reduction surgery typically takes 2 to 3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Patients return home the same day with a surgical bra in place and detailed instructions to support early healing and comfort.
1 Day Post Op
Expect to rest and limit movement. Swelling, soreness, and a feeling of tightness are normal. You’ll continue wearing your post-surgical bra around the clock to reduce swelling and help support your new shape.
1 Week Post Op
A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to check your incisions and healing progress. While you may feel more mobile, activities that involve lifting or stretching should still be avoided.
1 Month Post Op
Many patients can return to most daily routines and resume light, low-impact exercise. Swelling will continue to subside, and your results will become more defined. The surgical bra may still be required during this stage.
2-12 Months Post Op
Your breasts will continue to settle into their final shape as residual swelling fades and incision lines mature. Most patients feel fully recovered by the 3–6 month mark, with ongoing refinement over the course of the year.

Awards and recognition
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a procedure designed to remove excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to achieve a smaller, lighter, and more balanced breast size. The goal is to improve both aesthetics and comfort by relieving the physical strain caused by overly large breasts. It can also help enhance posture, reduce skin irritation, and improve your ability to exercise and dress comfortably. The result is a more proportionate, lifted, and youthful silhouette.
You may be an ideal candidate if you experience chronic back, neck, or shoulder pain, posture issues, or difficulty finding clothing that fits comfortably due to heavy breasts. Good candidates are in overall good health, non-smokers, and maintain a stable weight. Breast reduction is also an excellent choice for those who experience emotional or physical discomfort from breast size. During your consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your symptoms, anatomy, and goals to ensure the best possible outcome.
Yes! Most patients experience immediate relief from chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain following breast reduction surgery. By removing excess weight and lifting the breasts into a more natural position, tension on the spine and shoulders is significantly reduced. Many also notice improved posture and a lighter, more comfortable feeling overall. This functional benefit often leads to better mobility, confidence, and quality of life.
The final size of your breasts will depend on your body proportions, tissue composition, and aesthetic goals. Most patients go down one to three cup sizes, but the goal isn’t just to reduce size—it’s to create balance and harmony with your figure. Your surgeon will carefully plan the amount of reduction to ensure your results feel natural, comfortable, and proportionate. Every procedure is fully customized to your anatomy and preferences.
Scarring varies based on the technique and amount of correction needed, but most breast reductions use either a lollipop incision (around the areola and vertically down the breast) or an anchor incision (adding a line under the breast fold). While scars are permanent, they fade significantly over time and are easily hidden under bras and swimwear. Your surgeon will use advanced closure methods and provide scar-care guidance to help your incisions heal beautifully.
Most patients take about 1–2 weeks off work or daily activities to rest and recover. You’ll wear a supportive surgical bra and should avoid heavy lifting or strenuous movement for about 4–6 weeks. Swelling and mild soreness are common but steadily improve each week. Final results continue to refine over 3–6 months, revealing lighter, more proportionate breasts and a restored sense of comfort.
Yes — in fact, most breast reductions naturally include a lifting component. During surgery, the breasts are reshaped, the nipples repositioned, and excess skin removed, which results in a lifted, youthful contour. This combined approach restores both form and function for a more elevated, proportional look. Your surgeon will tailor the degree of lift and reduction to your unique anatomy and goals.
In some cases, your surgeon may place temporary surgical drains to prevent fluid buildup and promote healing. These small tubes are typically removed within a few days to a week. Not all patients require drains—modern techniques and careful tissue handling often minimize the need for them. Your surgeon will determine what’s best for your comfort and healing during your procedure.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, breast reduction surgery starts at $2,999 (excluding anesthesia and surgeon fees). Your total cost will depend on the complexity of your procedure and any additional techniques used. During your consultation, you’ll receive a personalized quote and financing options to help make your transformation attainable. We’re committed to providing beautiful results that fit your goals and budget.
Yes, in some cases. Many insurance providers will cover breast reduction if it’s considered medically necessary due to symptoms like back or neck pain, skin irritation, or restricted movement. Documentation such as medical records or chiropractor notes may be required for pre-approval. Our patient coordinators can assist you with the process and verify coverage with your insurance provider.
Most patients return to non-strenuous work within 7–10 days, depending on their comfort level. Light exercise, such as walking, can resume after 2–3 weeks, while high-impact workouts or weight training should wait at least 4–6 weeks or until cleared by your surgeon. Wearing a supportive bra during recovery helps minimize swelling and protect your new contours. Gradual activity increases help ensure the best long-term results.
Some temporary changes in nipple or areola sensation are normal as nerves heal and adjust. Most patients regain full or partial sensitivity within a few months. Permanent changes are uncommon but can occur depending on the amount of tissue removed and the surgical approach used. Your surgeon will use nerve-sparing techniques whenever possible to preserve sensation.
Breastfeeding after breast reduction is possible for some patients, but it can depend on how much glandular tissue is removed and how the ducts are preserved. If future breastfeeding is important to you, your surgeon will plan a technique that maximizes the likelihood of maintaining this function. It’s best to discuss family planning goals before surgery. Many patients choose to have their reduction after completing breastfeeding for predictable results.
Results from breast reduction surgery are long-lasting, especially if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. Natural aging, gravity, and hormonal changes may gradually affect shape over time, but your breasts will remain smaller and more comfortable than before. Supportive bras and good posture also help preserve your results. Most patients continue to enjoy their new, proportionate figure for many years.
While both surgeries enhance the shape and position of the breasts, they serve different purposes. A breast reduction removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to make the breasts smaller, lighter, and more proportional to your frame. A breast lift (mastopexy), on the other hand, reshapes and raises the breasts without significantly changing their size. Many patients benefit from a combination of both procedures to achieve an elevated, youthful contour that feels as good as it looks—especially if large, heavy breasts have begun to sag over time.
