A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure designed to refine and rejuvenate the lower face and neck area. This procedure removes any loose skin, strengthens the underlying muscles, and removes stubborn excess fat. The neck is one of the first areas to show signs of aging; many patients experience sagging skin, muscle laxity, the appearance of vertical bands, or excess fat under the chin, causing a “double chin.” The goal of a neck lift is to restore a smoother, firmer neckline that enhances your natural beauty and boosts your confidence in your appearance.
Our team of expert plastic surgeons in Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Brandon Elnekaveh, Dr. Rohan Policherla, and Dr. John Pinnella, custom-makes your neck lift plan to dramatically improve the definition of your jawline and neck, whether your concerns come from genetics, weight fluctuations, or time itself, affecting the overall harmony of your facial profile.
At South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, our mission is to achieve and deliver a more youthful and refreshed appearance. Whether your concerns are mild or more pronounced, a neck lift in Fort Lauderdale can be tailored to fit your needs and unique anatomy.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we understand that all of our patients experience different concerns and have different aesthetic goals; whether they want to refine their jawline, smooth out loose skin, or restore definition to the neck, our surgical plans are custom-made to fit your unique case.
Our expert plastic surgeons customize your neck lift to achieve a youthful neckline. The focus of this procedure is to tighten underlying muscles, remove excess fat, and lift sagging skin. This procedure can be combined with other facial surgeries to enhance your natural features and achieve a more complete transformation.
Many patients experience a boost in confidence in their everyday life after their neck surgery, whether it’s pulling their hair up, wearing open-neck tops, or simply seeing a more refreshed reflection.
The cost of a neck lift in Fort Lauderdale at the South Florida Center starts at $2,999 (excluding anesthesia and surgeon fees). Your coordinator will provide your final personalized quote, which will vary depending on the complexity of your case or if you choose to combine any other surgeries with your neck lift.
We believe that your surgery should feel accessible, and that is why your consultant will walk you through our flexible financing options through third-party providers, with an easy and quick application process. Our team is here to assist you from start to finish to help you make an informed decision.
There are multiple techniques and incision types for a Neck Lift, which becomes a key part of your surgical plan and the type of results you want to achieve. However, your surgeon is committed to delivering natural-looking results with minimal, well-concealed incisions.
In a classic neck lift, incisions are made behind each ear, extending slightly into the hairline. These follow the natural contours of the ear, making them discreet once healed. This approach allows access to lift and tighten both the skin and underlying muscles along the jawline and sides of the neck.
A small horizontal incision is made in the natural crease under the chin to access deeper structures like fat and muscle. This placement allows for submental liposuction, platysmaplasty, or other muscle-tightening techniques—while remaining easy to conceal in a shadowed area.
For patients with more pronounced skin laxity or neck banding in the central neck, a vertical incision may be placed under the chin. This approach provides direct access to the platysma muscle and is often used in a direct neck lift. Though the scar may be more visible initially, it typically fades well with proper scar care.
Platysmaplasty is a technique used to tighten and suture the edges of the platysma muscle, which causes vertical bands in the neck. This technique may be performed through a submental incision and can dramatically improve the definition of the neck and jawline.
In select cases—especially when excess skin is more concentrated in one area—Z-plasty may be used. This technique involves creating a Z-shaped incision to reposition and redistribute skin tension for smoother healing and a less noticeable scar.
Our team of expert neck surgeons in Fort Lauderdale uses advanced techniques to support fine-line healing and reduce the tension on the skin. You will be provided with post-surgical care, which will help you to make your scars softer, subtle, and barely noticeable.
A neck lift focuses on removing excess skin, which helps you achieve a smoother and tighter skin along the jawline, giving you a more sculpted and youthful profile. Patients feel more confident with their side profile and experience a positive difference in everyday life.
Due to factors like aging, sun exposure, or genetics, patients can experience mild to severe skin laxity around the neck. A neck lift removes this excess skin and tightens the remaining tissue, helping you restore a youthful contour and eliminate the appearance of a “turkey neck.”
Vertical muscle bands (also called platysmal bands) can create a strained or aged look. Depending on the technique, a neck lift focuses on tightening the underlying muscles to smooth these bands and restore a refreshed neck contour.
Fine lines, wrinkles, and creases along the neck can be softened through the skin tightening achieved with a neck lift, giving your skin a smoother texture and more refreshed appearance.
A customized neck lift approach can help you bring back the balance to your entire face. Lifting and refining the neck and jawline, it can enhance your natural features without altering your unique anatomy.

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
You’ll have your final consultation with your surgeon, and our pre-operative team will ensure you have completed your bloodwork, obtained medical clearance, and taken before pictures for your patient file to get you ready for surgery day.
Surgery Day
A neck lift takes around 2-3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Your surgeon will work on removing any excess skin around the neck area and redefining your overall contour. This is an outpatient procedure, where you’ll be able to return home the same day, wearing a compression dressing after surgery.
1 Day Post Op
Your surgeon will advise you to prioritize rest and avoid movements like turning your head abruptly. Patients will experience swelling, tightness, and mild bruising around the neck and jawline. You must continue wearing your compression dressing as directed to support healing, circulation, and minimize fluid buildup.
1 Week Post Op
You’ll return to our office one week post-surgery, where your surgeon will monitor your incisions and healing progress. Patients start feeling more comfortable, are now cleared to return to light desk work, and discomfort begins to ease. Your surgeon will still advise you to limit any motion that strains the neck.
1 Month Post Op
Around this stage, your new neck contour becomes more defined, and swelling subsides substantially. Most patients are cleared to return to normal activities and routines; strenuous movements should still be limited. Some patients keep wearing their compression garments during the night.
2 - 12 Months Post Op
Patients feel fully healed within the 6-12 month mark, and can see their final results by the 6-12 month mark, where swelling is fully resolved and incisions are now more invisible. It is important to keep a lifestyle where you include scar care, sun protection, and proper skincare to support your results for longer.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Pinnella. He was so kind and easy to talk to. He chatted with me before surgery like I was a family member. Dr. Pinnella was very honest and knew exactly what was going to work for my body. He won’t do anything that he knows isn’t going to work for your body, nor will he do anything that he thinks won’t look good. This doctor definitely wants you to be happy with yourself after your procedure. I would choose him over and over again.

A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure designed to tighten and lift any excess skin and underlying muscles around the neck area. This surgery reduces sagging, smooths out any wrinkles, and redefines the jawline, creating a youthful and more sculpted profile.
Patients can enjoy their neck lift results for 7 to 10 years, and depending on their care, even longer. While the aging process continues and patients keep dealing with sun exposure, a neck lift helps them maintain a youthful neck and jawline over time.
A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure that focuses on improving areas like the jawline, under-chin area, and neck, where excess skin and weakened muscles can be present. A facelift, on the other hand, focuses on the mid-to lower face, including the cheeks and nasolabial folds. Many patients choose to combine these two procedures for a complete facial rejuvenation.
Your scars will depend on the type of technique used for your neck lift; all incisions are strategically placed to be as discreet as possible, and with proper scar care, they become almost invisible over time. They can be placed behind the ears, under the chin (submental), or along the midline in the case of a direct neck lift.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, neck lift procedures start at $2,999 (surgeon and anesthesia fee not included). Your coordinator will provide your final personalized quote, which will vary depending on the complexity of your case and if you’re choosing to combine your neck lift with any other surgeries.
An ideal candidate for a neck lift is someone who’s in overall good health and deals with loose skin, neck bands, or excess stubborn fat in the neck area. This procedure is tailored to those experiencing signs of aging due to sun exposure, or genetics in the lower face and neck.
Most patients feel more comfortable and are cleared to return to normal routines and light activity within 7-10 days. Bruising and swelling gradually improve over the first few weeks, and full healing can happen around the 3-6 month mark.
Patients can experience mild to moderate discomfort, tightness, and swelling around the area rather than pain. You will be prescribed pain medication to manage any discomfort. Most patients feel better within a week.
After your neck lift, your surgeon will advise you to avoid any activities that cause tension around the neck area. Movements like bending, heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, and turning your head abruptly should be limited for at least 2 weeks post-surgery.
Most neck lift techniques are performed under general anesthesia, which guarantees the patient’s comfort and safety during surgery. However, if you’re having a direct neck lift, you may choose local anesthesia with sedation. Your surgeon will examine your medical history to choose the best option for you.
Yes, at our center in Fort Lauderdale, we have options like the absorbable thread lift and laser resurfacing treatments; however, non-surgical options should be used as a preventative procedure rather than to treat a severe skin laxity case, where they need a different level of skin tightening that only a neck lift surgery provides.
Yes, many patients choose to combine their neck lift with other facial procedures like a facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), chin liposuctions, or skin laser resurfacing treatments to enhance and achieve a complete facial transformation.
Patients experience a noticeable change within the first week post-surgery. All swelling takes around 2-3 months to subside, and your results continue improving until reaching the final healing stage, making your results visible by the 8-12 month mark.
