A well-defined jawline and sleek neck contour can dramatically enhance your overall appearance. Yet, factors like genetics, weight fluctuations, or natural aging can cause excess fat to collect beneath the chin—often called a “double chin”—that resists diet and exercise.
Submental liposuction, also known as chin liposuction or neck liposuction, targets and removes this stubborn fat to create a slimmer, more sculpted profile.
This procedure isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about refining your natural features. By carefully contouring the chin, jawline, and upper neck, neck liposuction helps patients achieve a more balanced, youthful look that feels authentically theirs.
Highly customizable and minimally invasive, submental liposuction can be tailored to your anatomy and goals, whether you’re seeking a subtle refinement or a sharper, more defined profile.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe every patient deserves results that reflect their unique goals and lifestyle. No two faces are the same—and no submental liposuction procedure should be either.
Whether you’re looking to slim a double chin, create sharper jawline definition, or achieve a smoother transition between the chin and neck, our expert surgeons will tailor your treatment to your anatomy and vision. The focus is on carefully sculpting away stubborn fat while preserving your natural balance and proportions.
Patients often describe not just a transformation in their profile, but also a renewed sense of confidence in photos, at events, and in day-to-day life.
For many, neck and chin liposuction is the key to feeling more aligned with how they want to present themselves to the world.
The cost of submental liposuction at the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery starts at $999.00 (not including anesthesia and surgeon fees). Final pricing will vary depending on your personalized surgical plan and whether you choose complementary procedures—like a neck lift or facelift—for enhanced results.
To make your procedure more accessible, we proudly offer flexible financing options through trusted providers with a simple approval process. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way, from consultation to recovery.
When it comes to refining the jawline and neck, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we offer both submental liposuction and neck lift surgery, depending on your anatomy and goals.
Best for patients with good skin elasticity who want to remove stubborn fat under the chin or along the jawline. It’s minimally invasive, requires tiny incisions, and delivers quick results with little downtime. This procedure sculpts and defines the lower face without tightening skin.
Ideal for patients experiencing more significant sagging or loose skin that liposuction alone cannot correct. A neck lift addresses skin laxity and underlying muscle bands, creating a smoother, tighter, and more youthful neckline and often includes submental liposuction. Recovery is longer than liposuction, but results are more dramatic for those with advanced aging changes.
For patients with mild to moderate fullness under the chin—but without significant loose skin—Kybella may be a non-surgical option. This injectable treatment uses deoxycholic acid to break down fat cells in the submental area over a series of sessions, gradually improving jawline definition with no surgery or downtime.
If your concern is mainly fat under the chin (the “double chin”), submental liposuction may be the perfect solution. If your concern is loose, hanging skin or visible banding, a neck lift might be recommended—or in some cases, a combination of both for optimal definition. Our expert surgeons will evaluate your anatomy, skin quality, and aesthetic goals during consultation to recommend the most effective treatment plan tailored to you.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we offer both traditional and power-assisted submental liposuction to help remove excess fat under the chin and redefine the jawline.
Submental liposuction is ideal for patients with good skin elasticity who are looking to reduce fullness in the neck without needing skin removal. During the procedure, a small cannula is used to suction out unwanted fat from the area beneath the chin, improving contour and revealing a more sculpted neckline.
For enhanced precision, our surgeons may use power-assisted liposuction (PAL)—a technique that uses gentle vibrations to help break up fat more efficiently before removal. This allows for smoother results, less trauma to surrounding tissues, and often a quicker recovery.
Whether performed on its own or as part of a more comprehensive facial procedure, submental liposuction is a minimally invasive way to achieve a sharper, more youthful jawline.
Submental liposuction requires only a small incision placed in the natural crease beneath the chin, making it easy to conceal and quick to heal. Our surgical team uses meticulous techniques to ensure minimal scarring and optimal healing. Most patients find the scar becomes barely visible with proper aftercare and time.
Remove stubborn fat beneath the chin that diet and exercise can’t touch, helping you achieve a sleeker profile.
By sculpting the submental area, liposuction enhances the natural angles of your jawline, giving you a sharper, more youthful look.
Because this procedure is minimally invasive, most patients are back to work and social activities within just a few days—while enjoying long-term contour improvements.
No more worrying about unflattering angles or avoiding side-profile pictures. Patients often feel more comfortable and confident in selfies, professional photos, and daily interactions.
Submental liposuction doesn’t “change your face”—it simply removes excess fat for a refined, harmonious balance between your chin, neck, and jawline.
For patients with additional concerns, submental lipo can be combined with procedures like a neck lift, facelift, or chin implant to achieve even more dramatic improvements.

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
Ahead of your procedure, you’ll complete a personalized consultation, pre-operative photos, and any necessary bloodwork or medical clearance. Your surgeon and care team will walk you through the details so you feel fully prepared.
Surgery Day
Submental liposuction is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your needs. The procedure typically takes less than an hour. Tiny incisions are made beneath the chin or behind the ears, and fat is removed using a thin cannula. Most patients return home the same day with a compression dressingin place to minimize swelling and support healing.
1 Day Post Op
Expect some swelling, mild bruising, and tightness in the treated area. Rest is recommended, but most patients can resume light daily activities within 24 hours. You’ll continue wearing your compression dressing full-time to encourage optimal results.
1 Week Post Op
By this stage, bruising begins to fade, and swelling decreases noticeably. You’ll attend a follow-up appointment to monitor your healing and ensure your results are progressing as expected. Many patients feel comfortable returning to work or social activities.
1 Month Post Op
Most swelling is resolved, and your neck and chin contour becomes more defined. The compression garment may only be needed at night. Light, low-impact exercise can typically be resumed with your surgeon’s clearance.
2 - 12 Months Post Op
Your final results continue to refine as residual swelling fades and tissues heal completely. The jawline and neck profile appear sharper, smoother, and more youthful. Most patients report feeling fully healed by 3 months, with final results visible around the 6-month mark.

Awards and recognition
Submental liposuction, also called neck or chin lipo, is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat beneath the chin and along the jawline. It helps create a slimmer, more defined profile and reduces the appearance of a “double chin.”
You may be a good candidate if you have stubborn fat under the chin that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise, have good skin elasticity, and are in overall good health. During your consultation, our surgeons will determine if submental liposuction is right for you.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, submental liposuction starts at $999 (not including anesthesia and surgeon fees). Final pricing depends on your personalized surgical plan.
The procedure involves small incisions beneath the chin or behind the ears. Using ultrasound-assisted liposuction technology, fat is gently removed to sculpt the jawline and neckline with precision and safety.
Most submental liposuction procedures take less than an hour and are performed as outpatient surgery, meaning you can go home the same day.
Recovery is typically quick. Most patients return to work within 3–5 days, with swelling and bruising gradually improving over 1–2 weeks. Final results become more visible as healing progresses over several months.
Incisions are very small and hidden in natural creases beneath the chin or around the ears. With proper care, scars are minimal and fade significantly over time.
Results are long-lasting, as the fat cells removed during liposuction do not come back. However, maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle is important to preserve your results.
Yes! Many patients combine submental liposuction with a facelift, rhinoplasty, or chin augmentation for more dramatic and balanced results. Your surgeon will recommend the best combination based on your goals.
Most patients experience mild discomfort, swelling, or tightness during recovery. Pain is usually minimal and easily managed with prescribed medication.
Kybella is an injectable treatment that dissolves fat under the chin over multiple sessions, while liposuction removes fat in one procedure for faster, more dramatic results.
Submental liposuction primarily removes fat. If you also have loose or sagging skin, your surgeon may recommend combining it with skin-tightening procedures like a neck lift for optimal results.
Yes! Our surgeons use advanced ultrasound-guided techniques to ensure results that look natural and balanced, enhancing your profile without looking “overdone.”
Some improvement is noticeable right away, but swelling may take several weeks to subside. Most patients see their final, refined results within 3–6 months.
