Every body is unique—and sometimes, even with a healthy lifestyle, stubborn fat pockets just don’t budge. Whether you’re looking to smooth out your midsection, contour your hips, define your arms, or slim your thighs, liposuction can help you feel more aligned with the shape you’re working hard to maintain. Our expert Plastic Surgeons in Fort Lauderdale, FL are here to help.
Liposuction is not about changing who you are—it’s about refining your natural silhouette and helping your outer appearance reflect how strong and confident you feel on the inside.
This highly customizable procedure targets localized fat deposits in areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, and more. By removing excess fat and enhancing your body’s natural lines, liposuction can create smoother contours, better balance, and a more sculpted look—without affecting surrounding tissue.
For many patients, liposuction is a transformative step toward body freedom. Clothing fits more comfortably, workouts feel more rewarding, and confidence gets a powerful boost.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe that your body goals should be as unique as you are. No two patients have the same anatomy, lifestyle, or aesthetic vision—which is why every liposuction procedure we perform is completely personalized.
Whether you’re looking to smooth your abdomen, slim your thighs, contour your arms, or create a more defined waistline, our experienced plastic surgeons will tailor your surgical plan to align with your needs and long-term goals. Liposuction can be performed on a single area or combined across multiple zones to sculpt a shape that feels lighter, leaner, and more proportionate to your natural frame.
Many patients notice a significant improvement in how their clothes fit, how they move through the day, and how they feel about their bodies overall.
From better comfort during workouts to a boost in everyday confidence, liposuction can create real, lasting change that reflects your effort and self-care.
The cost of liposuction at the South Florida Center starts at $1,999 (anesthesia and surgeon fees not included). Final pricing will depend on the number of areas treated and whether additional procedures are performed at the same time.
To make your transformation more accessible, we offer flexible financing through trusted third-party providers with simple applications and fast approvals. From consultation to recovery, our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Liposuction is a highly customizable procedure that can target multiple areas of the body—from the abdomen and thighs to the arms, back, and beyond. While incisions are typically small (just a few millimeters).
Their placement is a key part of the surgical plan to ensure minimal visibility and optimal results. Our plastic surgeons prioritize discreet, strategic incision placement based on your treatment areas, skin elasticity, and contouring goals.
Tiny incisions are usually placed near the natural creases of the lower abdomen, belly button, or along the bikini line. For flanks, small openings are typically made just above the hip bones or in the lower back to allow even access to both sides.
Incisions are discreetly placed in the groin crease (for inner thighs) or near the buttock fold or outer hip (for outer thighs), allowing for smooth contouring along the leg lines.
Small incisions are often hidden in the armpit or near the elbow crease, giving your surgeon access to the full length of the upper arm while keeping scars virtually unnoticeable.
For upper and mid-back areas, incisions may be placed along the bra line or within natural folds of the skin. This allows for targeted fat removal while keeping scars easily covered by clothing.
Incisions for the hips are typically made near the lower back or upper thigh crease. In the buttocks, small access points are placed just beneath the curve to maintain a natural-looking shape.
A tiny incision—usually hidden beneath the chin or behind the ears—can provide access for contouring and refining the jawline and neckline.
No matter the area being treated, liposuction incisions are designed to heal discreetly and fade over time. During your consultation, your surgeon will walk you through exactly where your incisions will be placed and how to care for them during recovery for the best long-term results.
It’s a common misconception—but an important one to clear up: Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. While both liposuction and weight loss can reduce body fat, they do so in very different ways, with very different goals.
Weight loss occurs when your body uses more energy than it consumes, leading to a gradual reduction in fat stored throughout the body. It typically happens through a combination of diet, exercise, and overall lifestyle changes—and it affects both fat and muscle. However, weight loss can’t target specific areas, and even after losing weight, many patients are left with stubborn pockets of fat or loose skin that don’t respond to exercise alone.
Liposuction, on the other hand, is a surgical body contouring procedure. It removes localized fat cells from specific areas like the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms, or back. It’s designed to sculpt the body—not reduce overall weight. Most patients only lose a few pounds on the scale after liposuction, but the visual transformation is far more significant.
Yes—having a higher BMI doesn’t automatically disqualify you from liposuction, but it may affect your candidacy, surgical plan, and expectations.
If your goal is to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle or finally target areas that won’t respond to exercise, liposuction can be a motivating and empowering first step—no matter your starting point.
Our plastic surgeons evaluate more than just your BMI.
For patients with a BMI above 30, liposuction may still be possible, especially if you’re targeting specific areas like the abdomen, back, or thighs.
Excess fat in certain areas can make movement harder than it needs to be. Liposuction lightens those areas, making everyday activities—from walking to working out—feel easier and more natural.
Fat folds and friction-prone areas (like inner thighs or under the arms) can cause chafing and discomfort. Liposuction smooths those trouble spots, helping reduce irritation and improve hygiene.
After lipo, most patients notice a big difference in how their clothes fit. Jeans zip up more easily, tops lay flatter, and you start to enjoy getting dressed again.
Sometimes stubborn fat can make you feel like your body doesn’t match your lifestyle. Liposuction helps bring your outside into alignment with how you feel inside—strong, confident, and in control.

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
You’ll complete your consultation, take pre-operative photos, and undergo any required testing such as bloodwork or medical clearance. Your care team will provide personalized instructions and answer any last-minute questions to ensure you feel fully prepared.
Surgery Day
Liposuction is typically performed under general anesthesia and can take 1 to 3 hours depending on the areas being treated. You’ll return home the same day wearing compression garments, which help reduce swelling and support your new contour.
1 Day Post Op
Expect to rest and take it easy. Swelling, bruising, and soreness are normal during the first few days. You’ll continue wearing your compression garments around the clock and should avoid strenuous activity.
1 Week Post Op
Most patients begin to feel more mobile, but you’ll still want to avoid lifting, stretching, or intense movement. A follow-up visit will be scheduled to check your healing and remove any sutures if needed.
1 Month Post Op
Swelling will continue to go down and you may start to see early results. Light walking and gentle activity are typically allowed, but you should still avoid high-impact workouts unless cleared by your surgeon.
2 - 12 Months Post Op
Your results will become more visible as swelling fades. Most patients are cleared to return to full activity, including more intense exercise. You’ll notice smoother contours and a more sculpted silhouette.
3 - 12 Months Post Op
Final results continue to refine over time. Any residual swelling should fully resolve, and incision marks will begin to fade. Patients often report feeling more confident and comfortable in their bodies during this stage.

Awards and recognition
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove stubborn fat deposits from targeted areas of the body using specialized suction techniques. It is a body contouring treatment, not a weight loss solution, and works best on fat that does not respond to diet or exercise. By permanently removing fat cells, liposuction helps refine shape and improve proportion. Results evolve gradually as swelling subsides.
Liposuction can treat many areas, including the abdomen, waist, flanks, thighs (inner and outer), arms, back, chest, buttocks, chin, neck, and knees. Multiple areas are often treated in the same procedure to create balanced, natural-looking results. Your Fort Lauderdale surgeon will assess your anatomy to ensure harmony between treated zones. Treatment plans are fully customized.
Ideal candidates are close to their goal weight, maintain a stable lifestyle, and have good skin elasticity. Liposuction works best for patients seeking targeted contour refinement rather than overall weight reduction. Your health history, BMI, and expectations will be reviewed during consultation. A personalized assessment ensures safe and realistic outcomes.
Weight loss shrinks fat cells throughout the body, but it does not eliminate them or target specific problem areas. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from precise locations, allowing for intentional shaping. This makes liposuction especially effective for areas resistant to diet and exercise. The scale may change slightly, but the visual transformation is more significant.
There are safety limits in Florida on how much fat can be removed during a single procedure. Typically, surgeons follow conservative guidelines to reduce risk and support proper healing. The focus is not maximum fat removal, but achieving smooth, proportional contours. Your surgeon will prioritize both aesthetics and safety.
Liposuction is not intended for weight loss and should not be viewed as a substitute for healthy habits. Most patients notice changes in clothing fit rather than major shifts on the scale. The goal is body contouring, not reduction in body weight. Maintaining results depends on long-term lifestyle choices.
Traditional liposuction targets individual areas such as the abdomen or thighs. Lipo 360 treats the entire midsection circumferentially, including the abdomen, waist, flanks, and lower back. This approach creates a more sculpted and cohesive silhouette. Lipo 360 is popular for patients seeking full waistline definition.
Most patients return to non-strenuous work within five to seven days. Swelling, bruising, and soreness are expected and improve over time. Compression garments are worn to support healing and contour formation. Final results continue to refine over the following months.
Yes, fat cells removed during liposuction are permanently eliminated. However, remaining fat cells can still expand if weight is gained. Maintaining stable weight supports long-term results. Liposuction reshapes the body, but lifestyle plays a key role in preservation.
Skin elasticity is a major factor in how well the skin retracts after fat removal. Patients with good skin tone often see smooth results without sagging. If skin laxity is present, additional skin-tightening or surgical options may be recommended. Your surgeon will discuss this during planning.
Smaller treatment areas can sometimes be performed under local anesthesia. Larger areas or multiple zones typically require general anesthesia for safety and comfort. The anesthesia method depends on the treatment scope and patient preferences. Your surgeon will recommend the safest option for your case.
Eligibility depends on overall health, fat distribution, and treatment goals. Some patients with higher BMIs may still be candidates for staged or limited liposuction. Safety always comes first, and expectations must be realistic. A consultation determines candidacy.
Initial improvements are often visible within weeks, but swelling can mask final outcomes early on. Most patients see their refined results between three and six months post-op. Skin tightening continues gradually over time. Patience is essential for optimal results.
Liposuction at South Florida Center starts at $1,999, excluding surgeon and anesthesia fees. Total cost depends on the number of areas treated, technique used, and whether procedures are combined. Customized quotes are provided after consultation. Flexible financing options are available.
Liposuction does not tighten abdominal muscles or repair muscle separation. It focuses only on fat removal. If abdominal muscle laxity is present, a tummy tuck may be more appropriate. Your surgeon will recommend the best solution.
Patients who have lost significant weight may benefit from liposuction, but loose skin is often a concern. In many cases, combining liposuction with skin removal procedures produces better outcomes. Each case is unique and evaluated individually.
In some cases, revision or additional contouring can be performed. However, optimal planning usually achieves desired results in one procedure. Maintaining a stable weight reduces the need for future treatments. Revision decisions are made carefully.
Liposuction is not designed to treat cellulite directly. In fact, if cellulite or skin laxity is already present, fat removal alone may make it more noticeable. Some patients may benefit from combining liposuction with skin-tightening or cellulite treatments. Your surgeon will guide you toward the best approach for smooth contours.
Compression garments are typically worn for four to six weeks after surgery. They help control swelling, improve comfort, and support skin retraction. Wearing your garment as directed is essential for achieving smooth, even results. Your surgeon may adjust the timeline based on your progress.
Lymphatic drainage massages are often recommended to reduce swelling and improve comfort during liposuction recovery. These treatments can help speed up the healing process and promote smoother results. While not mandatory, many patients find them beneficial. Your surgeon will advise whether they’re appropriate for you.
Liposuction removes fat, while a tummy tuck addresses loose skin and muscle separation. Many patients confuse the two. If skin laxity or diastasis recti is present, liposuction alone may not provide the desired result. Your surgeon will evaluate your anatomy and explain which option — or combination — makes the most sense.
