If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about the size, shape, or position of your ears, otoplasty—also known as ear pinning or ear reshaping surgery—offers a subtle yet impactful solution. This cosmetic procedure adjusts the ears to create a more balanced, proportional appearance that complements your facial features.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we take a personalized approach to each otoplasty procedure, tailoring every detail to your anatomy and goals. Whether your ears stick out more than you’d like, appear asymmetrical, or have been affected by trauma or genetics, our skilled plastic surgeons use precise surgical techniques to reshape and reposition the ears with natural-looking results.
This outpatient procedure can make a significant difference in your overall appearance and self-image, helping you feel more confident in photos, hairstyles, and everyday interactions. Whether you’re addressing long-held concerns or seeking refinement after past surgery, otoplasty offers lasting results that align with your aesthetic vision.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe that every aesthetic journey should reflect your individual goals, features, and lifestyle. No two ears—or patients—are the same, which is why every otoplasty procedure is carefully tailored to your unique anatomy and cosmetic vision.
Whether you’re looking to pin back prominent ears, improve ear symmetry, or refine the shape due to genetic differences or prior trauma, our experienced plastic surgeons will design a customized surgical plan that brings harmony to your profile—without overcorrecting or creating an unnatural look.
Otoplasty can deliver more than just physical results. For many patients, it leads to a renewed sense of confidence and freedom in everyday moments—from wearing your hair pulled back to posing in photos without second-guessing your angles.
The cost of otoplasty at the South Florida Center is $1,999 (not including anesthesia and surgeon fees). Final pricing will vary based on the complexity of your procedure and whether you choose to combine it with other facial surgeries for enhanced balance and results.
To help make your transformation more attainable, we offer flexible financing options through trusted third-party providers with a quick and easy application process. Our team is always here to support you from consultation through recovery.
Otoplasty—also known as ear pinning or ear reshaping—is a highly precise procedure designed to create a more balanced, symmetrical, and natural ear appearance. Whether your concerns involve overly prominent ears, asymmetry, or irregular ear folds, the procedure is tailored to your specific anatomy and aesthetic goals.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your needs and surgeon recommendation. Most patients return home the same day.
The most common incision is placed discreetly behind the ear, where the ear meets the head—making it virtually invisible once healed. Through this incision, your surgeon can access the cartilage and reshape it using one or more of the following techniques:
In this method, small adjustments are made to the cartilage to sculpt a more natural contour. Stitches may be used to hold the new shape in place.
If the ears stick out prominently, permanent sutures are placed to draw the ears closer to the scalp. This creates a more proportional and balanced look without removing cartilage.
In cases where the central portion of the ear—called the conchal bowl—is overly large, a small portion of cartilage may be removed to reduce projection.
Because incisions are placed behind the ears, there are no changes to the front-facing appearance of the ear—just a more refined silhouette and improved symmetry when viewed from all angles.
Each technique is selected based on your unique ear structure and the desired outcome, ensuring that the final result looks natural and in harmony with your facial features.
While traditional otoplasty focuses on reshaping or repositioning the ears for a more balanced profile, earlobe surgery addresses a different—but equally important—concern. Whether due to aging, genetics, trauma, or stretching from heavy earrings or gauges, earlobes can become elongated, torn, or disproportionate over time. At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, our surgeons offer earlobe repair and reduction procedures to restore a more refined, youthful appearance.
Ideal for patients with torn, stretched, or damaged earlobes, this procedure involves removing scar tissue, reshaping the lobe, and creating a clean closure that restores symmetry and structure. It’s a popular choice for those who want to wear earrings again or simply improve the aesthetic of their ears.
For patients with naturally elongated or sagging earlobes, this procedure removes excess tissue and reshapes the lobe for a more petite and proportionate look. It’s often performed in conjunction with otoplasty or as a standalone cosmetic enhancement.
Both procedures are performed in-office under local anesthesia with minimal downtime and discreet results. Whether you’re looking to correct damage or refine your overall appearance, earlobe surgery can deliver subtle but impactful improvements that complement the rest of your facial profile.
Otoplasty reshapes the ears to better match the proportions of your head and facial features. Whether correcting prominent ears or asymmetrical folds, the result is a more harmonious, refined look from every angle.
If your ears stick out more than you’d like, ear pinning brings them closer to the head for a more discreet profile. This subtle adjustment can make a dramatic difference in facial balance—without changing your natural expression.
Whether due to genetics, injury, or a previous surgery, uneven or misshapen ears can be artistically corrected through personalized sculpting of the cartilage. The result is improved symmetry and contour that complements your overall facial structure.
Many patients—especially those who have been teased or felt self-conscious about their ears—experience a significant boost in self-esteem after otoplasty. With results that feel natural and discreet, patients often feel more at ease in photos, social situations, and everyday life.
Once healed, the results of otoplasty are considered permanent. With proper care, there’s no need for ongoing maintenance or future adjustments—just lasting improvement you can feel confident about.
Thanks to incisions made behind the ear, otoplasty leaves little to no visible scarring. Once healed, the marks are discreet and hidden within the natural crease where the ear meets the head

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
Your journey begins with a personalized consultation and pre-operative clearance. You’ll complete your health screenings, take pre-op photos, and review your surgical plan with your surgeon. We’ll make sure you’re fully prepared, comfortable, and confident ahead of surgery day.
Surgery Day
Otoplasty is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your needs and comfort. The procedure takes about 1 to 2 hours. Most patients return home the same day with a protective bandage around the head to support healing and help the ears retain their new shape.
1 Day Post Op
During the initial healing phase, expect mild discomfort, swelling, and tightness around the ears. Pain is usually manageable with prescribed medication. You’ll need to keep your head elevated and avoid touching or disturbing the bandages.
1 Week Post Op
You’ll return to the clinic for a follow-up appointment to remove your bandages and check your healing progress. At this stage, many patients switch to a soft headband—typically worn at night—to protect the ears while sleeping.
2 Weeks Post Op
Most swelling and bruising begin to subside. Many patients feel confident enough to return to work or non-strenuous activities. You’ll still need to avoid heavy lifting, intense workouts, or any pressure on the ears.
1 Month Post Op
By now, your ears are settling into their new position and the results will become more visible. While minor swelling may linger, you can usually resume most normal activities—just continue to avoid trauma or excessive movement to the ears.
3 - 6 Months Post Op
Your final results will continue to refine as the ears fully heal and residual swelling fades. Scars will soften and become nearly invisible, and you’ll enjoy a more balanced ear shape that complements your overall facial appearance.

Awards and recognition
Otoplasty is a cosmetic ear surgery designed to fully reshape, reposition, or reduce the size of the ears to improve and achieve a more symmetrical facial balance. This surgery is ideal to correct ears that are too prominent and too far from the head, but it can also address shape irregularities and/ or size concerns. Otoplasty delivers natural results and gives proportion to your ears to fit the rest of your facial anatomy. This procedure can be performed on one or both ears; it’ll depend on the patient’s needs and your surgical plan. Otoplasty does not alter or affect the hearing; it only focuses on the outer ear structure.
Ideal candidates are those patients who deal with concerns about the shape, size, or position of their ears, which affect their confidence in their daily life. Patients must be in good overall health and have realistic expectations when it comes to final results. This procedure is popular for patients who have prominent ears, ear asymmetry, or congenital ear irregularities. It is important not to deal with active ear infections or untreated medical conditions that could negatively affect the healing process.
Otoplasty focuses on the correction of aesthetic ear concerns like prominent or protruding ears, oversized ears, asymmetry between the ears, and misshapen cartilage. This procedure can also address congenital ear deformities present from birth. This surgery can also be paired with earlobe repair surgery to address trauma from previous body modifications, such as stretching. During your consultation, your surgeon will create a personalized approach that fits your needs and anatomy.
Yes, otoplasty surgery delivers permanent results. Once the ear cartilage is reshaped and settles into its new position, it maintains that new structure long-term. Aging may cause some changes, but your ears do not revert to their original positions. It is important to follow your post-operative instructions to ensure long-lasting results.
Ear pinning focuses on repositioning or “pinning” your ears closer to the head, which is ideal when the patient deals with overly prominent ears. Otoplasty is the other hand, is a more comprehensive procedure that includes the reshaping of the cartilage, reducing ear size, correcting deformities, and improving symmetry. Ear pinning addresses projection, and Otoplasty addresses multiple structural concerns at once. For some patients, both techniques are combined to achieve natural and proportionate results. Your surgeon will recommend and create the most appropriate approach during your consultation.
Otoplasty leaves minimal scarring. Your surgeon strategically places the incisions right behind the ears, where they are hidden within the natural creases. With proper post-operative care, your scars will fade significantly and become barely noticeable. From a cosmetic standpoint, otoplasty is considered a low-scar procedure, and most patients report that scars are difficult to detect even when hair is worn up.
Otoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of your case, patient preference, medical history, and surgeon input. General anesthesia is often used for more extensive corrections. Your surgeon will explain and review anesthesia options during your consultation. Our number one priority is your safety and comfort. The chosen method is tailored to your specific needs and case.
Most patients are clear to return to normal, non-strenuous daily activities within one or two weeks after otoplasty surgery. Swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are common during the first week post-op. Final results become more visible around the 6-8 month mark. Following post-operative care instructions helps ensure a smooth recovery.
Yes, otoplasty surgery is an outpatient procedure, and you’ll return home the same day wearing a protective headwrap or a bandage. This bandage helps support the ears, reduce swelling, protect the surgical site, and ensure the skin and your ears settle into their new position. Your bandage is typically removed one week post-op, and after that stage, it is often recommended to wear a soft headband at night for several weeks. This can prevent accidental bending of the ears during sleep. Your surgeon will provide you with detailed instructions on how long to wear each garment.
Yes, otoplasty focuses on reshaping the ear, which often corrects ear asymmetry. This is a highly customizable procedure; it reshapes each individual or creates a more balanced appearance. During your consultation with your surgeon, your ear position, size, and cartilage structure are carefully examined. The final goal of otoplasty is to improve symmetry rather than achieve identical ears. This surgery provides subtle adjustments that make a meaningful transformation in facial balance.
Patients report mild to moderate discomfort rather than pain after otoplasty surgery. Tightness or tenderness around the ears is coming, and overall discomfort is usually managed with prescribed or over-the-counter medication—most of the discomfort and swelling decreases significantly within the first 72 hours. By the end of the first week, most patients are clear to return to normal and non-strenuous activities.
The starting price of otoplasty is $1,999, not including the surgeon and anesthesia fee. Your coordinator will provide your final personalized quote, which will vary depending on the complexity of your case, unilateral or bilateral correction, and if you’re combining your otoplasty surgery with any other procedures. Your consultant will also provide more information regarding our flexible financing options, with a quick and easy application process to make your surgery more accessible.
Yes! Otoplasty is commonly combined with other facial procedures to enhance and achieve a more complete transformation. Common combination treatments include rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, or a facelift. Combining surgeries can help you decrease your total downtime and recovery time. Your surgeon will evaluate your candidacy and asses wheteher a combination approach is appropriate for your safety and facial balance. The goal is to deliver natural-looking results.
Patients get to notice immediate results after bandages are removed, one week post-op, their otoplasty surgery. It is common to still notice swelling around the area, but the improvement is noticeable early on. Around the 1-2 month mark, your ears will keep settling into their new position, and the gradual refinement contributes to a natural result. Final results typically appear within a 6–8 month mark once all the swelling, bruising, and scarring have healed and resolved.
