Every body is unique—and for many people, the upper arms can be an area of concern. Factors like aging, weight changes, and genetics can cause the skin to lose its elasticity, leading to sagging or a “bat wing” appearance. An arm lift—also known as brachioplasty—can restore a smoother, firmer contour by removing excess skin and reshaping the upper arm.
An arm lift isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about helping your outer appearance match how you feel inside: strong, confident, and vibrant. This procedure targets loose skin and improves definition so you can feel more comfortable in everyday activities.
This highly customizable surgery addresses excess skin, tightens underlying tissue, and refines the overall shape of the arm for a more toned, proportionate look. Whether your concerns are mild skin laxity or significant excess skin after weight loss or aging, an arm lift is tailored to your anatomy and goals—giving you results that feel naturally yours.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe every patient deserves results that reflect their unique goals, lifestyle, and anatomy. No two bodies are alike—and no arm lift should be either.
Whether you’re looking to remove loose, hanging skin after weight loss, improve the tone and contour of your upper arms, or restore a more youthful appearance, our expert surgeons will customize your procedure to match your vision. Your surgical plan will focus on removing excess skin, tightening underlying tissue, and smoothing the upper arm for a firmer, more sculpted look.
Many patients experience not only a visible improvement in their arm shape, but also a renewed sense of confidence when wearing sleeveless tops, swimwear, and fitted clothing.
For some, an arm lift is the final step in a transformation journey—helping them feel more comfortable and aligned with the way they see themselves.
The cost of an arm lift at the South Florida Center starts at $2,999 (not including anesthesia and surgeon fees). Final pricing will vary depending on your personalized surgical plan and whether you choose to combine your arm lift with other contouring procedures.
To make your transformation more accessible, we offer flexible financing options through trusted third-party providers with a quick and simple application process. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
During your consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your skin elasticity, the amount of excess tissue, and your personal goals to determine the most effective incision pattern. The goal is always to achieve smooth, natural-looking results with scars that fade over time and are easily concealed.
The most common approach, placed along the inner arm from the armpit to the elbow. This allows for precise removal of excess skin and tissue while keeping the scar hidden when the arms are at your sides.
A shorter incision located entirely within the armpit. This is ideal for patients with mild skin laxity who only need a small amount of tightening.
For patients with more significant skin laxity that extends to the side of the chest, the incision continues from the arm into the lateral chest area for comprehensive contouring.
While both arm liposuction and arm lift (brachioplasty) can improve the contour of your upper arms, they target different concerns and use different techniques.
If your main concern is stubborn fat with tight, youthful skin, liposuction alone may be enough. However, if you struggle with loose or hanging skin—especially after major weight loss—an arm lift is often the best solution. In many cases, combining the two provides the most sculpted and youthful-looking results.
Brachioplasty eliminates the loose, hanging skin that diet and exercise can’t address—especially common after significant weight loss or aging. The result is a tighter, smoother arm shape that looks natural and youthful.
From sleeveless dresses to fitted tops, many patients find they can confidently wear styles they previously avoided. Without the extra bulk of sagging skin, clothing drapes more naturally and comfortably.
By removing excess skin and refining the arm’s contour, the procedure allows underlying muscle tone to be more visible—helping you showcase the results of your workouts.
Whether you’re at the beach, in the gym, or simply out with friends, many patients feel more comfortable and self-assured in their appearance after brachioplasty.
With a stable weight and healthy lifestyle, the results of an arm lift can last for many years—making it a worthwhile investment in your confidence and comfort.

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
You’ll meet with your surgeon to review your surgical plan, take pre-operative photos, and complete necessary testing such as bloodwork or medical clearance. Our team will walk you through every step so you feel confident and prepared.
Surgery Day
Brachioplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2–3 hours, depending on the extent of skin removal and contouring needed. Your surgeon will make the planned incisions, remove excess skin, and smooth the underlying tissue for a more toned arm appearance. Dissolvable sutures are often used, and your arms will be wrapped in supportive dressings or compression garments to minimize swelling.
1 Day Post Op
Expect some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed medication. You’ll be advised to limit arm movement and keep your arms elevated when possible to promote healing.
1 Week Post Op
A follow-up visit will be scheduled to monitor your healing and remove or check any sutures. You may notice improved arm contour already, though swelling will still be present. Light daily activities can be resumed, but you should still avoid lifting or strenuous movements.
1 Month Post Op
Most patients are able to return to normal activities and light exercise. Swelling will continue to decrease, and scars will begin to fade. Compression garments may still be worn as recommended by your surgeon.
2 - 12 Months Post Op
Your final results will begin to take shape as residual swelling fades. The muscle definition created by ab etching becomes more prominent, and you’ll notice a leaner, sharper look. Most patients feel fully healed by month three, with continued refinement over time.

I traveled to SFC from Kentucky to have an extended arm lift and breast lift with implants (I’ll just share a picture of my arms lol). It was an amazing experience filled with kind staff and one fantastic surgeon!!! My results exceeded my expectations thanks to Dr. Brandon. My “bat wings” literally hung nearly three inches after significant weight loss and I always wore 3/4 length shirts in the summer to hide them. As you can see… no more long sleeves in the summer for me. I really thought there was no help for my breast but Dr. Brandon worked his magic and they are perfect!!!

Brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms to create a smoother, more toned contour. It’s often performed after significant weight loss or to address sagging due to aging.
Good candidates are in overall good health, maintain a stable weight, and have loose or sagging skin on the upper arms that does not improve with exercise. Non-smokers generally experience better healing outcomes.
Arm liposuction removes excess fat but does not address loose skin, making it ideal for patients with good skin elasticity. Brachioplasty, on the other hand, removes excess skin and can also include liposuction for improved contour, making it the better choice for moderate to severe sagging.
Incisions are typically made along the inside or back of the arm, sometimes extending from the armpit to the elbow. Your surgeon will select an incision pattern that allows for optimal skin removal while keeping scars as discreet as possible.
Yes, brachioplasty does leave a scar along the inner arm, but it fades over time and is strategically placed to be less visible. Many patients find the scar to be a worthwhile trade-off for the improved contour.
Most brachioplasty procedures take 2–3 hours, depending on the amount of skin removal needed and whether additional procedures, like liposuction, are performed at the same time.
Discomfort is usually mild to moderate and can be managed with prescription pain medication during the first few days after surgery. Most patients describe it as soreness rather than intense pain.
You can expect swelling, bruising, and tightness in the arms during the first week. Compression garments are worn to support healing and reduce swelling. Light activities can usually resume in 1–2 weeks, while strenuous exercise should wait until cleared by your surgeon.
You’ll notice a more defined arm contour immediately after surgery, though swelling will obscure final results at first. Most swelling subsides within 4–6 weeks, and scars continue to fade over several months.
Results are long-lasting if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. However, natural aging will still cause some changes over time.
Yes, many patients choose to combine an arm lift with procedures like liposuction, breast lift, tummy tuck, or body lift to achieve a more complete transformation.
As with any surgery, risks include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, and changes in sensation. Choosing an experienced surgeon and following aftercare instructions helps minimize these risks.
Brachioplasty is typically considered cosmetic and is not covered by insurance. Our office offers flexible financing options to make your procedure more affordable.
