An arm lift, also known as a Brachioplasty, is a procedure that targets loose skin around the arm area and improves definition so you can feel more comfortable in everyday activities. This procedure is designed to address and remove excess skin, tighten underlying tissue, and refine the overall shape of the arm for a more toned, proportionate look.
This procedure is ideal for patients who deal with loose skin, poor skin elasticity, and sagging tissue due to factors like aging, weight fluctuations, and genetics. An arm lift (brachioplasty) helps remove excess skin and improve the contour of your upper arms. Incision placement and type are key to achieving the best results for your needs. Your surgeon will choose a technique that allows the best results while prioritizing discreet scarring.
Every patient gets a thorough examination, and your surgeon will evaluate the amount of excess tissue and your personal goals to determine the most effective incision type. The goal is to deliver natural-looking results with scars that eare asily hidden and fade well over time.
The most common approach, placed along the inner arm from the armpit to the elbow. This allows for precise removal of excess skin and tissue while keeping the scar hidden when the arms are at your sides.
A shorter incision located entirely within the armpit. This is ideal for patients with mild skin laxity who only need a small amount of tightening.
For patients with more significant skin laxity that extends to the side of the chest, the incision continues from the arm into the lateral chest area for comprehensive contouring.
Understanding the key difference between arm liposuction and a brachioplasty can help you determine which is best for you and your needs. Both procedures improve the overall arm contour, but they target different concerns.
If your main concern is stubborn fat around the upper arm area and you have good skin quality, liposuction alone can be enough to deliver the best results. But if you struggle with sagging skin and severe skin laxity, a brachiplasty is the best approach. In some cases, your surgeon might combine both procedures to optimize final results.
A brachioplasty is designed to remove any loose, hanging skin that diet and exercise can’t target. Patients enjoy a tighter and smoother arm contour that looks natural and youthful.
Many patients can enjoy and expand their wardrobe and style once the extra bulk of sagging skin is removed. A brachioplasty boosts patients' confidence while wearing certain clothing.
Sagging skin can prevent you from showing your real muscle definition in the arm area. An arm lift helps redefine the arm’s contour by making the underlying muscle more visible.
A brachioplasty does not improve physical appearance, but helps you feel more comfortable and self-assured in their appearance after surgery.
Maintaining a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle, the results of an arm lift become long-lasting, making it worthwhile to invest in your confidence and comfort.

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
You’ll have the final consultation with your surgeon to finalize details and answer any questions you may have. Our pre-operative team ensures you complete all of your bloodwork, obtain necessary medical clearance, and take before pictures to get you ready for surgery day.
Surgery Day
Brachioplasty surgery takes around 2-3 hours, depending on the extent and complexity of your case. Your surgeon will place your incisions strategically to comfortably remove the excess skin and smooth the underlying muscle tissue. This is an outpatient procedure, where you’ll return home right after surgery, wearing a compression dressing to help with recovery.
1 Day Post Op
Rest should be your priority, especially during the first 24-72 hours. Swelling, bruising, and tightness are common. Arm movement is limited, and arms should stay elevated when possible to support healing and circulation.
1 Week Post Op
You’ll return to our office one week post-op, where your surgeon will monitor the incision area, remove any sutures if needed, and examine how your healing is progressing. You’ll feel more comfortable; however, your surgeon will advise you to limit strenuous activity and lifting your arms.
1 Month Post Op
Swelling will continue to subside, and scars will begin to fade. Most patients are cleared to return to normal daily activities and light exercise. Your surgeon may advise you to continue wearing your compression garments to support your new shape.
2 - 12 Months Post Op
Many patients feel fully healed at this stage, and residual swelling fades. Your new arm contour becomes more visible, and you’ll now be cleared to resume all types of activities, including working out. Final results are seen around the 8-12 month mark.

I traveled to SFC from Kentucky to have an extended arm lift and breast lift with implants (I’ll just share a picture of my arms lol). It was an amazing experience filled with kind staff and one fantastic surgeon!!! My results exceeded my expectations thanks to Dr. Brandon. My “bat wings” literally hung nearly three inches after significant weight loss and I always wore 3/4 length shirts in the summer to hide them. As you can see… no more long sleeves in the summer for me. I really thought there was no help for my breast but Dr. Brandon worked his magic and they are perfect!!!

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a procedure designed to remove the excess and sagging skin around the upper arm area, delivering a smoother and more toned contour by working with underlying muscle tissue.
Ideal candidates are those whose main concerns are excessive and sagging skin that does not respond to any exercise or diet. They must be in overall good health, and stop tobacco consumption. Your surgeon will advise you to maintain a stable weight to ensure your results are long-lasting.
Both procedures are great to sculpt the arm area; both have different functions and techniques. Liposuction is ideal for those who deal with fat pockets in the upper arm and have good skin laxity. A brachioplasty is a procedure for those who have sagging and loose skin that is non-responsive to exercise and diet. Sometimes your surgeon will take a combined approach to deliver a better result.
Incisions are placed strategically in areas that are well concealed and easy to hide. They are typically made along the inside or back of the arm, sometimes extending from the armpit to the elbow. Your surgeon will choose the best technique to deliver optimal results and ensure discreet scarring.
Yes, all cosmetic procedures contain certain types of incisions and scarring. A brachioplasty leaves a scar along the inner arm, but with proper post-surgical care, they fade over time and are easily hidden under clothes.
A brachioplasty procedure takes around 2-3 hours, depending on the complexity of your case, the amount of skin being removed, and whether other procedures are combined, such as liposuction.
Many patients experience tightness and mild discomfort around the area, but it can easily be managed with prescribed pain medication and following your post-operative instructions, like avoiding strenuous activity that causes pressure to the area. Most patients describe it as soreness rather than pain.
Patients can expect swelling, bruising, and tightness around the arms during the first couple of weeks. To ensure healing, you must wear a compression garment to support your new shape and optimize circulation. Patients are cleared to return to light activities within 2-4 weeks and see final results around 8-12 months.
Patients are able to experience and notice a difference right after surgery, and swelling plays a big role in the first couple of weeks. Most swelling subsides within 4-6 weeks with the help of your compression garments, scars continue to fade and heal over time with proper care.
Brachioplasty delivers long-lasting results once the excess skin is removed. Many patients keep enjoying their defined and new contours regarding the effects of natural aging. Your surgeon will advise you to maintain a stable weight and healthy habits to maintain your results for longer.
Yes. An arm lift procedure is highly customizable, and many patients choose to combine it with other procedures to minimize recovery time. Popular combinations are with liposuction, breast lift, tummy tuck, or body lift, achieving a more complete transformation.
All surgeries include risks; a brachioplasty can include the risk of infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, and changes in sensation around the arm area. Choosing an experienced surgeon and following all post-operative care will help you reduce any potential risks.
A brachioplasty is considered a cosmetic procedure, which is not accepted by insurance. However, at the South Florida Center, we offer flexible financing options through third-party companies with easy and quick application processes to make your procedure more accessible.
A brachioplasty starts at $2,999 (surgeon and anesthesia fee not included). Your coordinator will provide you with the final custom price, and it will vary depending on the extent of your case, the amount of skin being removed, or if you’re combining your arm lift with any other procedures.
