Every woman’s body is unique, and over time, life events like pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, or natural aging can cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape and position. A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, can help restore a more elevated, contoured look by lifting and reshaping the breast tissue. Our expert Plastic Surgeons in Fort Lauderdale, FL are here to help.
A breast lift is not about changing size—it’s about reviving the natural shape, position, and firmness of the breasts. For many patients, it’s the key to feeling more confident in their body, whether in swimwear, fitted clothing, or simply day-to-day.
This highly customizable procedure removes excess skin, reshapes the breast mound, and repositions the nipple-areola complex to create a more proportionate appearance. Whether your concerns are mild sagging or more significant changes in breast shape, a breast lift is tailored to your goals and anatomy for results that feel naturally yours.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe every patient deserves results that reflect their personal goals, body, and lifestyle. No two bodies are alike—and no breast lift procedure should be either.
Whether you’re looking to restore a more youthful breast shape, improve symmetry, or reposition the nipples to a higher, more natural point, our expert plastic surgeons will customize your breast lift to match your anatomy and aesthetic vision. Your surgical plan will focus on lifting and reshaping the breast tissue while removing excess skin to create a firmer, more elevated contour.
Many patients experience not just an improvement in their silhouette, but also renewed confidence in how their body looks and feels in clothing, swimwear, and everyday movement.
For some, a breast lift can be the final touch after pregnancy, weight loss, or aging—helping them feel more aligned with their current self.
The cost of a breast lift at the South Florida Center starts at $2,999 (not including anesthesia and surgeon fees). Final pricing will vary depending on your specific surgical plan and any complementary procedures you may choose to enhance your results.
To help make your procedure more accessible, we offer flexible financing options through trusted third-party providers with a simple application process. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
Breast lift surgery focuses on reshaping and elevating the breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple-areola complex. Incision placement is a key part of your personalized surgical plan—designed to achieve the best possible lift while keeping scars as discreet as possible.
Each incision option is selected based on your anatomy, the degree of lift needed, skin elasticity, and aesthetic goals. During your consultation, your surgeon will explain which method is best suited for you, ensuring that the approach aligns with your desired outcome while minimizing visible scarring.
A circular incision made around the edge of the areola. This technique is best for patients with mild sagging and minimal excess skin, as it allows for subtle lifting with minimal scarring.
This approach involves an incision around the areola and a vertical line down to the breast fold. It’s commonly used for moderate sagging, offering more dramatic reshaping and elevation while keeping scars well-concealed.
This technique combines an incision around the areola, a vertical incision to the breast fold, and a horizontal incision along the breast crease. It is ideal for patients with significant sagging or volume loss, providing the most comprehensive lift and reshaping.
A breast lift (mastopexy) can be performed on its own or combined with implants—depending on your goals for shape, volume, and overall appearance. Understanding the difference can help you make the right decision during your consultation. Implant is often chosen for patients who want to maintain current breast size, or enhance fullness at the top of their breast in addition to lifting the breast.
While a breast lift reshapes and elevates the breasts, it doesn’t add volume or significantly change your natural cup size. However, many patients notice that their breasts look and feel smaller after surgery—even if no breast tissue is removed.
This is because lifting the breast and removing excess, stretched skin can create a firmer, more compact shape, which may cause your bra size to decrease slightly.
It’s also common for patients to find that bras fit differently after a lift—not necessarily because of a major size change, but because the breasts are more upright, better supported, and positioned higher on the chest.
If maintaining or increasing your current volume is important to you, your surgeon may recommend combining your lift with breast implants to restore fullness, especially in the upper portion of the breast (upper pole).
Patients with adequate natural volume who want perkier, more lifted breasts without adding size.
A more youthful, elevated contour without increased fullness.
Patients who have lost volume after pregnancy, weight loss, or aging, and want both a lift and added size or roundness.
A lifted, fuller, and more rounded breast shape with enhanced cleavage.
After explant surgery, where breast implants are removed, the breast tissue often lacks volume and firmness, leading to sagging or deflation. A breast lift after explant helps reshape the remaining tissue, tighten excess skin, and reposition the nipples for a more natural, lifted look post-removal.
Patients removing implants who want to restore a natural, proportionate breast shape after volume loss.
A more youthful, lifted breast appearance that complements your natural body proportions.
Your surgeon will help you determine the best approach based on your breast volume, skin elasticity, and desired outcome. Whether you want to enhance size, simply lift, or restore shape after explant, your procedure will be fully tailored to your body and goals.
A breast lift repositions the breasts to sit higher on the chest, restoring the firmness and perkiness that may have been lost due to aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations. The result is a more youthful and balanced silhouette.
Many patients find that after a breast lift, their clothes fit better—especially bras, swimsuits, and form-fitting tops. You may no longer need as much structural support from bras, and your wardrobe can open up to new styles with confidence.
Sagging often causes nipples to point downward or sit below the breast crease. A breast lift re-centers the nipple-areola complex, creating a more natural and proportionate position with enhanced symmetry between both breasts.
Over time, gravity and loss of skin elasticity lead to breast ptosis, or sagging. A breast lift directly addresses this by tightening the skin envelope and reshaping the breast mound for a firmer, uplifted appearance.
For patients satisfied with their natural volume, a breast lift reshapes and repositions the existing tissue without adding implants—allowing you to maintain your natural size while enhancing shape and contour.
Beyond the physical improvements, a breast lift can help restore confidence in your body. Many patients report feeling more aligned with their self-image, more comfortable in intimate settings, and overall happier with their appearance

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery
Ahead of your breast lift, you’ll complete a personalized consultation, pre-operative photos, bloodwork, and any necessary medical clearance. Your care team will ensure you feel fully informed and prepared for your procedure.
Surgery Day
Breast lift surgery typically takes 2 to 3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Patients return home the same day with a surgical bra in place to minimize swelling and support the newly shaped breasts. You’ll receive detailed post-op instructions before discharge.
1 Day Post Op
Expect to rest and limit upper body movement. Swelling, bruising, and tightness across the chest are common. You’ll continue wearing your surgical bra full-time to help with healing and maintain your new breast position.
1 Week Post Op
You’ll attend a follow-up appointment to monitor healing and incision sites. Most patients feel more mobile by this point but should still avoid any lifting, stretching, or activities that place strain on the chest.
1 Month Post Op
Swelling begins to decrease noticeably, and your breast shape will continue to refine. Many patients can return to non-strenuous daily activities and light, low-impact exercise with clearance from their surgeon. The surgical bra may still be recommended during this stage.
2-12 Months Post Op
Over the following months, your breasts will continue to settle into their final position as residual swelling resolves. Incision lines will fade gradually with proper care. Most patients feel fully healed between 3 to 6 months, with final results visible by 6 to 12 months.

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that lifts, reshapes, and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and breast tissue. The goal is to restore a more youthful, elevated contour that complements your natural proportions. It’s ideal for correcting sagging caused by aging, pregnancy, or weight changes. The result is a perkier, smoother silhouette that looks natural both in and out of clothing.
You may be a strong candidate if you have drooping breasts, stretched skin, or nipples that point downward. Good mastopexy candidates are in overall good health, maintain a stable weight, and have realistic expectations about their results. A breast lift is especially beneficial after pregnancy or weight loss, when breast tissue loses firmness and elasticity. During your consultation, your surgeon will assess your anatomy and discuss whether a lift alone—or a lift combined with implants—will best achieve your goals.
A breast lift primarily reshapes and elevates the existing tissue rather than increasing size. Some patients notice a slightly smaller cup size afterward due to the removal of stretched skin and improved firmness. If you’d like more volume or upper-pole fullness, your surgeon may recommend combining your lift with breast implants or fat transfer. This combination can enhance projection while maintaining the lifted, natural contour.
Yes! Many women choose a breast lift without implants when they’re satisfied with their natural volume but want a more youthful position and improved firmness. This option provides a beautifully refreshed look without adding size. Your surgeon can tailor the lift to your anatomy and goals—whether you prefer a subtle, natural enhancement or more dramatic repositioning. The results can restore balance and symmetry while maintaining your natural shape.
A breast lift repositions and reshapes the existing tissue to correct sagging, while breast augmentation adds volume using implants or fat transfer. Many patients choose to combine both procedures to lift and enhance fullness at the same time. This approach provides a more comprehensive transformation—especially if the breasts have both volume loss and drooping. Your surgeon will help you determine whether a lift, augmentation, or both will achieve your ideal outcome.
Scars depend on the incision pattern used, which can be donut, lollipop, or anchor-shaped depending on your level of sagging. While scars are permanent, they typically fade significantly over time and are placed carefully to remain discreet under bras and swimsuits. Your breast lift surgeon will provide detailed scar-care instructions to support healing and minimize visibility. With proper care, most patients find that scars become thin and barely noticeable within a year.
A breast lift usually takes two to three hours, depending on the technique used and whether additional procedures are performed. It’s typically an outpatient procedure, meaning you’ll return home the same day. During surgery, your surgeon will reshape the breast tissue, remove excess skin, and elevate the nipple-areola complex to a higher, natural position. The focus is always on creating proportionate, symmetrical, and long-lasting results.
Most patients return to light daily activities within one to two weeks, though exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for about four to six weeks. Mild swelling and tightness are normal and gradually subside over several months. You’ll wear a supportive post-surgical bra to help the breasts heal in their new position. Final results continue to refine over three to six months as the tissues settle into a natural contour.
Temporary changes in nipple sensation are common during recovery, as nerves adjust after repositioning. Most patients notice gradual improvement within a few weeks to months. Permanent loss of sensation is rare but can occur, particularly with more extensive lifts or significant repositioning. Choosing an experienced mastopexy surgeon and following post-operative care guidelines greatly reduces this risk.
Breastfeeding after a breast lift is often possible, but it depends on the surgical technique and how much tissue is repositioned. If future breastfeeding is important to you, your surgeon can plan incisions that preserve milk ducts and glandular tissue. It’s best to complete your family before undergoing a lift, as future pregnancies can stretch the skin and affect results. Always discuss your long-term plans with your provider during consultation.
Results from a breast lift are long-lasting, especially if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. While natural aging and gravity continue to affect all breasts over time, most patients enjoy their lifted, youthful contours for 10 years or longer. Supportive bras, good posture, and proper skin care can help prolong your results. Some patients choose a touch-up or combine future procedures to maintain their preferred look.
Yes — a breast lift can significantly improve breast symmetry by reshaping each breast individually and repositioning the nipples for a more balanced, harmonious look. Many women naturally have slight differences in breast size or position, which a lift can refine. For more pronounced asymmetry, your surgeon may recommend combining the lift with implants or fat transfer to create a perfect match. The goal is always a proportionate, natural-looking outcome.
At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, breast lift procedures start at $2,999 (excluding anesthesia and surgeon fees). The final cost depends on the level of correction needed, whether implants or fat transfer are added, and your personalized surgical plan. During your consultation, you’ll receive a detailed quote and guidance on financing options to make your transformation attainable.
Absolutely! A breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation, breast reduction, or body-contouring procedures like liposuction or a tummy tuck for a full-body transformation. Combining surgeries allows for a more balanced silhouette and a single recovery period. However, for safety reasons, a breast lift cannot be combined with a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), since the recovery positions conflict. Your surgeon will design a safe, customized plan to achieve your aesthetic goals.
An internal bra uses an absorbable surgical mesh, such as DuraSorb®, to reinforce breast tissue from within after a lift. This mesh acts like an invisible support structure, helping maintain the breast’s new shape, preventing early sagging, and reducing tension on the incision line. Over time, the material is safely absorbed by the body, leaving behind your own strengthened collagen support. Surgeons often recommend it for patients with thinner skin, larger breasts, or previous surgeries who want longer-lasting, more elevated results.
