Restore a more defined neckline with a neck lift in Fort Lauderdale

The neck is one of the first areas to show signs of aging—think sagging skin, muscle laxity, or the appearance of vertical bands and excess fat under the chin. Whether due to genetics, weight fluctuations, or time itself, these changes can affect the overall harmony of your facial profile.

A neck lift is designed to refine and rejuvenate the lower face and neck by addressing loose skin, tightening underlying muscles, and removing excess fat. The goal isn’t to change how you look—it’s to restore a smoother, firmer neckline that enhances your natural beauty and boosts your confidence.

This highly customizable procedure can dramatically improve the definition of your jawline and neck, often complementing other facial surgeries or standing on its own for a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Whether your concerns are mild or more pronounced, a neck lift can be tailored to fit your unique anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Your look, your goals — personalized neck lift surgery

At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we believe your cosmetic journey should be as unique as you are. Whether you’re hoping to refine your jawline, smooth out loose skin, or restore definition to the neck, your procedure should reflect your individual goals—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

A neck lift is fully customized to your anatomy and aesthetic vision. Our experienced surgeons focus on tightening underlying muscles, removing excess fat, and lifting sagging skin to create a smoother, firmer, and more youthful neckline. Whether performed on its own or in combination with other facial procedures, your surgical plan is built to enhance your natural features while staying true to your unique look.

Many patients say they feel more confident in their appearance after surgery—whether it’s pulling their hair up, wearing open-neck tops, or simply seeing a more refreshed version of themselves in the mirror.

A neck lift can be the transformative finishing touch after weight changes or aging, helping you feel more aligned with how you see yourself.

The cost of a neck lift at the South Florida Center starts at $2,999 (excluding anesthesia and surgeon fees). Final pricing may vary depending on your personalized surgical plan and any additional procedures you choose to enhance your results.

To make your transformation more accessible, we offer flexible financing options through trusted third-party providers, with a straightforward application process. Our team is here to walk you through every step of the journey.

Incisions and techniques

One of the most common questions patients ask about neck lift surgery is where the incisions will be placed—and what the scarring will look like. At the South Florida Center, your surgical plan is thoughtfully designed to achieve natural-looking results with minimal, well-concealed scarring.

Depending on your goals and anatomy, your neck lift may involve one or more of the following incision types and techniques:
neck lift

Traditional Neck Lift Incisions

In a classic neck lift, incisions are made behind each ear, extending slightly into the hairline. These follow the natural contours of the ear, making them discreet once healed. This approach allows access to lift and tighten both the skin and underlying muscles along the jawline and sides of the neck.

submental

Submental Incision
(Under the Chin)

A small horizontal incision is made in the natural crease under the chin to access deeper structures like fat and muscle. This placement allows for submental liposuction, platysmaplasty, or other muscle-tightening techniques—while remaining easy to conceal in a shadowed area.

neck lift

Vertical Midline Incision
(Direct Neck Lift)

For patients with more pronounced skin laxity or neck banding in the central neck, a vertical incision may be placed under the chin. This approach provides direct access to the platysma muscle and is often used in a direct neck lift. Though the scar may be more visible initially, it typically fades well with proper scar care.

neck lift

Platysmaplasty

Platysmaplasty is a technique used to tighten and suture the edges of the platysma muscle, which causes vertical bands in the neck. This technique may be performed through a submental incision and can dramatically improve the definition of the neck and jawline.

neck lift

Z-Plasty for Skin Redundancy

In select cases—especially when excess skin is more concentrated in one area—Z-plasty may be used. This technique involves creating a Z-shaped incision to reposition and redistribute skin tension for smoother healing and a less noticeable scar.

Our surgical team uses advanced closure methods to reduce tension on the skin and encourage fine-line healing. With careful aftercare, sun protection, and time, most patients find that their scars become soft, subtle, and barely noticeable

Customize your neck lift surgery benefits

Redefine your jawline and neck contour

A neck lift smooths and tightens the skin along the jawline and neck, restoring a more sculpted and youthful profile. This refinement can create a noticeable difference in side-profile photos and everyday confidence.

Reduce the look of loose or sagging skin

Aging, sun exposure, and genetics can cause skin laxity in the neck. A neck lift removes excess skin and tightens the remaining tissue, helping eliminate that “turkey neck” appearance and creating a firmer, smoother surface.

Minimize the appearance of neck bands

Vertical muscle bands (also called platysmal bands) can create a strained or aged look. A neck lift can tighten the underlying muscles to soften these bands and restore a more relaxed, youthful neck contour.

Smooth out wrinkles and folds

Fine lines, wrinkles, and creases along the neck can be softened through the skin tightening achieved with a neck lift—giving your skin a smoother texture and more refreshed appearance.

Improve facial harmony without changing your features

By lifting and refining the neck and jawline, a neck lift can bring more balance to your entire face. It enhances your natural features without altering your expression or facial identity.

Neck lift surgery consultation process

01 Complete our form

Fill out our virtual consult form online, so that we can get some more information about you and what you specific needs. Be sure to include any concerns and questions that you have for our staff or surgeons. There is also an option to attach photos for the surgeon to review when evaluating your case.

In most cases, you’ll receive a proposal within 24 hours of submitting a request via email from your assigned patient care consultant. This will show a breakdown of pricing, what’s included, and next steps to move forward with the surgery. You’ll also be able to contact your consultant moving forward with any questions or concerns about your surgery.

In order to move forward with your surgery, the surgeon must evaluate your body and your specific goals. Patients can either submit photos including multiple angles (front, back, and both profiles) along with comments about their goals and concerns, or can schedule a video call at their convenience to virtually meet with the surgeon. We offer virtual consultations with Dr. Robert Cucin, Dr. John Pinnella, Dr. Brandon Elnekaveh, and Dr. Rohan Policherla. We also offer in-person consultations with a $500 deposit that goes towards the overall cost of your surgery.

After your consultation, whether by submitting photos, video call, or in-person, the surgeon will create a surgical plan and approve you as a candidate for surgery. The surgeon might also suggest another procedure. Your patient care consultant will reach out to you to confirm the surgeon’s approval and answer any remaining questions you may have.

Once you are ready to move forward, you can leave a $500 deposit using a credit card, cash, or one of our trusted financing partners. This deposit goes towards the overall cost of your  surgery. Deposits are non-refundable, but remain as a center credit for a period of one year.

After you leave your deposit, you are ready to schedule your surgery. Our scheduling supervisor will reach out to you and choose dates for your pre-operative and surgical appointments that work for you. If you’re not ready to schedule right away, just let us know when to reach out and we will be happy to follow up at a later time.

Surgery and recovery process

30 - 1 Day Before Surgery

Leading up to your neck lift, you’ll complete a one-on-one consultation, pre-operative photos, medical clearance, and any required lab work. Your care team will walk you through the entire process and answer any final questions so you feel informed and confident going into surgery.

Surgery Day

Neck lift surgery typically takes about 2 to 3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Most patients return home the same day with a compression garment in place to support healing and reduce swelling. Before you leave, you’ll receive detailed instructions on how to care for your incisions, manage discomfort, and sleep with your head elevated.

1 Day Post Op

You should expect to rest, avoid turning your head abruptly, and limit activity. Swelling, tightness, and mild bruising around the neck and jawline are normal. You’ll continue wearing your compression garment as directed to support healing and minimize fluid buildup.

1 Week Post Op

You’ll attend a follow-up visit so your surgeon can check your progress and incision sites. By this point, discomfort typically begins to ease, but you should still avoid strenuous activity and any motion that strains the neck. Most patients feel more comfortable moving around and may return to light desk work if cleared.

1 Month Post Op

Swelling noticeably decreases, and your neck contour becomes more defined. While some residual tightness may linger, most patients can return to normal routines and light physical activity (with surgeon approval). Scars may still appear pink, but they will begin to soften over time.

2 - 12 Months Post Op

Your results will continue to refine as swelling fully resolves and incisions fade. Final healing varies by patient, but most feel fully recovered within 3 to 6 months, with their best results visible by the 6 to 12-month mark. Continued scar care, sun protection, and proper skincare can help enhance and maintain your outcome.

Amazing experience

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Pinnella. He was so kind and easy to talk to. He chatted with me before surgery like I was a family member. Dr. Pinnella was very honest and knew exactly what was going to work for my body. He won’t do anything that he knows isn’t going to work for your body, nor will he do anything that he thinks won’t look good. This doctor definitely wants you to be happy with yourself after your procedure. I would choose him over and over again.

Frequently asked neck lift questions

What is a neck lift and what does it correct?

A neck lift is a cosmetic surgery that tightens and lifts the skin and underlying muscles of the neck to reduce sagging, smooth out wrinkles, and redefine the jawline. It targets concerns like loose skin, neck bands, and excess fat under the chin.

Results from a neck lift can last anywhere from 7 to 10 years or more. While the aging process continues, patients usually maintain a more youthful neck and jawline than they would have without surgery.

A neck lift improves the jawline, under-chin area, and neck, while a facelift focuses on the mid-to-lower face, including the cheeks and nasolabial folds. Many patients choose to combine both for a more complete facial rejuvenation.

Neck lift incisions vary depending on the technique used—they may be placed behind the ears, under the chin (submental), or along the midline in the case of a direct neck lift. All incisions are strategically placed to be as discreet as possible, and with proper healing and scar care, they typically fade and become barely visible over time.

At the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, neck lift procedures start at $2,999, not including anesthesia and surgeon fees. The final cost depends on your personalized treatment plan and whether additional procedures are included.

Ideal candidates for neck lift surgery are in good overall health and are concerned about loose skin, neck bands, or excess fat in the neck area. It’s especially effective for those experiencing signs of aging in the lower face and neck.

Most patients return to light daily activities within 7–10 days. Bruising and swelling gradually improve over the first few weeks, and full healing can take 3 to 6 months for final results to fully settle.

Discomfort is typically mild to moderate and well managed with prescribed pain medication during the first few days. Tightness and soreness are common, but most patients feel significantly better within a week.

You should avoid bending, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, and turning your head abruptly for at least 2 weeks post-surgery. Your care team will give you specific instructions to help support proper healing.

Most neck lifts are performed under general anesthesia for comfort and safety. However, in certain cases—like a direct neck lift—a lighter form of sedation may be considered. Your surgeon will discuss the best option during your consultation.

Non-surgical treatments like skin tightening lasers or injectables can offer subtle improvements, but they won’t provide the same level of tightening or long-term results as surgical neck lift procedures.

Yes! A neck lift can be safely and effectively combined with a facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), chin liposuction, or skin resurfacing treatments to enhance facial harmony and overall results.

You’ll start seeing noticeable improvements within a few weeks. As swelling subsides and tissues settle, your results will continue to improve—often reaching their best appearance by 3 to 6 months post-op.

Not at all. When performed with precision and care, a neck lift creates a smoother, more defined neckline that still looks like you. Our goal is to enhance your natural features—not change them.
