Traditional Neck Lift Incisions

Most patients return home the same day with a compression garment in place to support healing and reduce swelling. You should expect to rest, avoid turning your head abruptly, and limit activity. Swelling, tightness, and mild bruising around the neck and jawline are normal. You’ll continue wearing your compression garment as directed to support healing and minimize fluid buildup.

You’ll attend a follow-up visit so your surgeon can check your progress and incision sites. By this point, discomfort typically begins to ease, but you should still avoid strenuous activity and any motion that strains the neck. Most patients feel more comfortable moving around and may return to light desk work if cleared.

Swelling noticeably decreases, and your neck contour becomes more defined. While some residual tightness may linger, most patients can return to normal routines and light physical activity (with surgeon approval). Scars may still appear pink, but they will begin to soften over time.
